I was looking for a 'framing hammer' (a type of tool originating in the USA) Gardens of Covey was able to supply, responded to my email correcting my delivery details swiftly & the hammer arrived earlier than expected. The tool is well made & finished, the head appears to be cast steel & the handle is hickory, the finish on the handle taper were it joins the head might be better, but it is acceptable. In use the hammer drives large nails with ease, & extracts bent ones well(using the claw) I have not tried the magnetic nail holding facility yet.All in all I am well pleased & admire the efforts of people from the far east in providing quality products at affordable prices

This is a great hammer for demo work and heavier jobs that don't require to much finesse. The milled face leaves a fair ding in the timber, so not for finish surfaces. The build quality is great, I was worried it was going to be a bit heavy for all day use but the whole thing is balanced nicely.Ignore that jerks review about being ripped off, he's the sort of person that sits in traffic hard up to the white line so motorcyclists cant get passed as easy because he thinks they should wait in traffic like the rest of us.Like I say a great hammer for demolition jobs, lath and plaster ceilings, floors, etc, the extra handle length comes in real handy and the magnetic nail holder blew my labourer's mind (which if I'm honest isn't that hard).

the hammer is a lot bigger than expected, its not lightweight and can see it being an issue using it all day. holding it on my tool belt feels fine and almost the same as my spec-ops 22oz hammer. i have found kneeling down it drags along the floor a little bit but bound to happen with longer hammers.getting into the details now:i personally am going to sand down the handle as it has a weird finish on it, this is just my personal opinion but something i noticed.as someone who wears two rings on my right hand i have always prefered hammers with a rubber handle just to reduce the shock in my hand however this handle i find sits nicely into the hand avoiding the rings.i like the hammer but be weary of the size and use it is going to be used for

I just got this yesterday. Very good for driving 100mm nails ie framing and works well even when handle shortened up for putting in dwangs etc.It is a cool looking tool and a very well made lump of wood and metal for £27. The kind of thing you won't regret buying.It has to be said the straight claw can't pull nails for pants, so you might have to have a bar or hammer with better leverage toes for that job. I think it is intended for levering up sections of framing and gripping timber rather than removing nails.

This is what you'd call a proper framing hammer,the length of the handle compliments the head weight, giving it good balance,making it easy to use.To quote one other reviewer,this is a "SKELPER".Needless to say,I'm happy with the purchase.

Extremely well made , lovely to hold and use. I cannot recommend this hammer more highly, it is excellent!
