Good quality
Purchased to replace my ancient Oregon scientific MTR101 ( simply because the remote sensor was apparently dead after spending several weeks filled with water ...... after drying it out , it's now working again , a testament to how rugged & durable OS kit is ! )Easy to set up , although as others have found , getting a signal for the automatic clock is a bit hit-and-miss ( but no different from most other devices in that respect )The temperature gauges are pretty accurate ( about +0.2C different from my old MTR101 , which under-read by about 0.1C compared to a mercury thermometer )The wireless link between the remote & the base unit is also good , easily getting a signal from over 30' away through a solid concrete wall. Not too sure about how waterproof the remote is , though , as unlike my old one there's no 'O-ring' seal for the battery compartment lid.The only complaint I would have is that - again , as reported by others - the 'Ice Alert' light is extremely bright & there appears to be no way to turn it off ( a strip of 'black nasty' over the top of it does the job , though )

It works with no reception issues - UPDATE: Eats batteries
Nice clear screen and no problems with reception. The outside sensor is only about 3m from the house and works perfectly. The flashing ice alert LED (activated at +3 degrees and below) is a bit annoying but if I understand the instructions properly it's only activated by the external sensor on channel 1 so I assume if I change the sensor to use channel 2 (or 3) it will no longer flash. Give it a month or so and it'll no longer be an issue anyway!Updated after a few months: I'm still happy with this and it still works well, however, it has a hell of an appetite for batteries. Roughly once a month I have to replace the 3 AA's in the main unit and the single AA in the sender. I've only used Duracell Ultra Power which are good quality batteries. I've knocked 1 star from my review owing to the 40+ batteries it eats each year.

Useful Piece of technology
All in one clock, thermometer (inside and out), barometer which works well.My only problem is that I purchased this only to find that it is the North American version! This means that it looks for the clock signal and can't find one!So I don't have a radio controlled clock! Just manual. This was £10 cheaper than other offerings on Amazon at the time so I guess that is why!Still, does all the main bits well and would recommend the EU model to any one in the UK.

Exact replacement for an old one, as we liked it so much
Our old weather station was the same model as this. It gave out recently (due to the heatwave?), so as we liked it so much we have bought an identical one.It has all the features we want, i.e:Large easy to read displayEasy to adjust mode – day/date/timeGood weather predictionButton inside to change from C to FIce alert and various symbols which warn of snow etcEasy to fit batteries/take off panel to do soIndicates humidity inside and out – useful for deciding whether to do/take in washingPhases of the moonEasy to cleanWe keep it on the windowsill in the kitchen, where it is visible but unobtrusive. My wife likes the gentle orange light - non-wakening if you happen to come downstairs in the middle of the night. It does, of course, come with an outside sensor.

Good functionality. Rubbish design
I have owned several models of these before (all Oregon Scientific), so am used to them. All functions are present and work as expected. The biggest issue is the design of the internal module - it is rubbish. The designers have tried to be different for the sake of being different and come up with a rubbish product.First of all, you cannot hang this on the wall - previous models allowed you to do this.Even when it stands on its own, because of its leaning design, it is most unstable. A gust of wind or similar will knock it down. Additionally, you cannot operate any of the buttons (e.g. light) without holding the unit with one hand and pressing the button with the other.A good example of how to ruin a decent product.Updated:After having used this for a few months, I have lowered the rating even lower. This is because the external temperature keeps disappearing a few times a day. The external sensor is less than 5 metres away!I have 2 of these and they both exhibit the same behaviour.

Nice weather station, not so good sensor
I purchased this weather station and worked fine, all do the sensor seems to show 98%humidity all the time even when sunny, until one moment when sensor broke down. Tried to changed the battery on sensor, reset both sensor and station still sensor does not want to work. Now a new sensor is required not even one year after i have purchased the unit. Hope i will be able to find a new one as amazon seems to be out of stock, or they are aware of failures and trying to fix the issue.

Nice unit
I bought this weather station having read the reviews and having decided that the positives outway the negatives. I had read that it was rather large, so was ok with that. Setting up was very easy - it found the time within minutes and it took a little longer to detect the outdoor sensor but it found it farely quickly. I've already had a "fog warning" in the middle of the heat wave, lol, but never mind. I didn't want it so much for the weather warnings, more for the other indications it has (indoor/outdoor temperature, humidity, moon phase and weather predictions). Some people have complained about the display being too dark, but I don't find that at all and it has a light switch which makes it very easy to read anyway. So far, it works very well and I'm very pleased with it.

So far so good!
I have owned a number of these "weather forecasters" over the years and have been generally disappointed with how they have performed or lasted. However I must say that so far this product has lived up to its description and performed well. Easy to set up and with a good operating range (distance from sensor)I have been pleased. I have awarded 4 stars. My only criticism is that the screen is difficult to read from more than a couple of feet without operating the light - the screen is a bit dark. Otherwise - good.

carina e discreta stazione meteo
