Villa Acacia Wood Carving Board, Extra Large Juice Groove and Well - 24 x 18 x 1.5 InchAfter researching cutting boards I purchased a John Boos 18”X12” maple end grain board several months ago. Pleased as we’ve been with its service, we were excited to see this larger reversible acacia wood model, perfect for occasions when its 24”X18” design and juice groove “architecture” might better suit our preparation needs. The photos accompanying the Villa Acacia listing presented an aesthetically appealing, durable, and functional product sure to facilitate the creation of both basic and more celebratory, company-worthy meals.Reasonably priced for such quality, we ordered our Villa Acacia cutting board, which arrived promptly, boxed, packaged in a larger protective shipping box, and as attractive as the promotional photos suggested, sealed in a clear wrapping for surface protection, as well as, I’m guessing, to preserve the wood’s natural oils. Following our previous experiences with the Boos board, we elected to condition our new board with Boos Mystery Oil to enhance its durability and longevity, and, after a second application and overnight rest interval, we were ready to put our prepared board and knives to work dicing and slicing the vegetables we’d selected for our evening’s stir-fry. (See the pictures accompanying the review.) As we had learned previously from our first “pro” cutting board experiences, there’s no substitute for carefully sourced, expertly designed, and skillfully crafted materials, an understanding reaffirmed by the Villa Acacia cutting board, inviting crisp yet blade-protecting cuts for combining in our pre-heating Breville Hot Wok Pro .Several days later, the Villa Acacia cutting board, reversed to utilize the juice groove channels, served as the rest and carving station for the Easter lamb chops planned to accompany the baked ham scheduled to treat our family guests. Again, as anticipated, the Villa Acacia cutting board welcomed our slicing and still more deliberate knife-work, (see pics,) and shortly afterward the lamb was ready to assume its role in the holiday menu.I suppose it might be easy to diminish or undervalue the roles particular kitchen tools can play in meal-time preps, but we are reminded daily by our cutting boards and general kitchen gear just how pleasurable and fulfilling a completed meal can be with the right tools, ingredients, and insightful preparations. I had this for about 6 months. It's a beautiful board. I used it for turkey and the grooves caught all of the drips. Cleans up easily. I oil it monthly as instructed and have had no problems with cracking or warping.

I've been on the hunt for a large, substantial, affordable carving board for quite some time. I grill a lot of ribs and steaks and needed a carving board with deep juice grooves that would also work well for large roasts, turkeys and hams. Tired of making due with an old board that is far too small and leaks, I ordered the Villa Acacia Extra Large carving board for our upcoming Easter dinner. I looked at many others but they were either too small, too thin for my liking, or way too expensive. The Acacia carving board is stunning right out of the box, and even more so after treating it with coconut oil. (The board came with care instructions which I found to be very helpful.) The board is VERY large and quite heavy. It easily handled a 12 pound ham, and I especially like that I can now carve and serve from the same board and not have to transfer sliced meat to a serving platter.. I really like that it has finger grooves carved into each end which make it easy to lift and move, or transfer from counter to table.. I also like that I can flip the board over and use the flat surface as a charcuterie board for entertaining. The board suits my lifestyle perfectly. It would make a beautiful wedding or anniversary gift for a special couple, or a beautiful house warming gift for someone who likes to cook and entertain. I love mine and look forward to using it for years to come.

I've been looking for a carving board that could handle large amounts of juices from carving up large roasts and turkeys, and the design of the board could no be any better! My previous carving board would always overflow or spill when trying to move the board to the sink and this board fixes both of those problems! While I am exclusively using this as a carving board it is dual purpose with the reverse side being completely flat to be used as a regular cutting board which adds to its value. The Acacia wood is hard enough to be able to withstand abuse but soft enough to keep your knives from dulling. While the board comes preseason and oiled i found a generous slathering of board oil left to soak overnight really brought out the beautiful grain of the acacia as well as made the board a bit more manageable with cleaning and care.The only loss of star for me was some mild roughness in the corners of the groves which encourage the wood to sip up more of the juices, but nothing 5 minutes with some 220 grit sandpaper can't fix. Once sanded and oiled this board is perfect! And it make a great display piece for those dinner parties or family gatherings!Happy Carving!

I needed to replace our cutting boards and have been reluctant due to the crazy prices and small sizes. With Thanksgiving coming, I knew it had to be done and I took a chance on this one. Not only for the price, but the size. WOW WOW WOW. I could not believe it when I opened the box. Beautiful wood, hefty thickness, perfect depth with the drain and plenty big for our 25lb turkey. I wish I needed another, thats how much I love this board. With the thickness, Im sure it will hold up well but if not, I will revise my review.

With unusually deep drain grooves, nicely rounded edges, and a thick sturdy heft, this board is far beyond what I expected for the price. It appears to have arrived untreated, so I can seal the wood as best fits my needs. Handles on the edges gives me full use of the flat side, but the grooves feel deep enough to provide a safe grip. As one expects, some grooves could use extra sanding to be perfect. Overall, this board is an amazing addition to my home kitchen. I got a 2nd to give as a gift.
