It works!
At last, a transmitter which works properly. I've been through a few, one cheaper version which initially worked, but ate through batteries and quickly fell apart, one i-pod specific version which was returned due to poor sounds quality and the in car charger not working. So if like me you have searched high and low for a decent transmitter, look no further, this is the one you want.Good Points1. East to tune, one touch will find a suitable band and display the frequency for you. when you tune the radio to the correct frequency it displayed TUNECAST.2. Very Good sound quality on normal mode. If you go for pro or pro 2 mode then the signal is compressed for greater clarity (like all FM radio stations do)3. USB port on the back of the in car charger so you can also charge your phone (cable not provided)4. Unit is all in one part, no hunting about for seperate charger etc (though i guess this could be a problem if the charger breaks)5. Good range, you don't have to stick it to specific area of the cabin for it to work.6. IT WORKS!Bad Points1. None that i can see, though durability is untested.

Cheap and cheerful
Bought this as it seemed like a low-cost solution to using iphone to play audio in the car. It works pretty well.Like several other reviewers, I have suffered from some interference and it needs to be retuned on long journeys. Its worse in very built up areas due to number of radio stations. My wife really likes it and listens to podcasts on the way to & from work. I am less impressed, because the audio quality is poor; you need to set the volume on the ipod to middle, or the sound will distort horribly, but then it's not all that loud (love to listen to loud rock music on my own in the car!). Also there is audible hiss and/or interference during quiet parts of the music.Positives: Low cost. Easy to use. Long cable, so easy to place phone in convenient location. Will charge phone if you keep your USB cable in the car (or buy another). Finds a suitable frequency.Negatives: slow to scan for frequency. Prone to interference. Poor sound quality. Conclusion: Not for hi-fi buffs, but a good value solution if you're not that fussy about audio quality.

Great way to get music into the car and the car radio system
Whilst an increasing number of cars are now featuring car audio systems that include one form of iPod or mp3 connectivity or another, neither of our cars currently have this. My wife has an iPhone 4 and she has the next model up in the Belkin range which has a dedicated Apple connector. This allows the phone to charge (via the cigarette socket) and also allows the phone to download radio information about the area you are in to aid finding unused airspace and also allows the phone to control some aspects of the radio. The Belkin works really well. In fact, it works so well, I decided to buy something similar for my car. I have my music on an iPad Nano, so don't have the ability to download or connect in the same way as an iPhone. When I checked out the range, I decided on this model. It doesn't have the Apple connector and so doesn't charge out of the box and connects to the iPod via the headphone socket. It is still powered and needs to plug into the cig lighter socket. The benefit here is that this connector has a USB slot built in, so if I am on an extended journey, I can use my ordinary iPod Apple charger cable with it. However, the iPod lasts for days and so is hasn't presented a problem. At the end of the day, this model still does the same job of getting the music from the music player out over the radio. It does it equally well. In essence, it finds an empty bit of the airwaves and transmits the music from your music player on this frequency. You simply tune the car radio to the same frequency and there you have it. Both have a number of settings that may make a difference in some circumstances. You can set it to mono, or you can boost the Bass etc. In summary, both these models work really well and I would recommend them both.

A simple way to choose what you want to hear. Effective & so easy to set up & manage
On journeys that are more than 'just round the corner' I like to have options. Often I'll prefer a trip in relative silence or chat to whoever is with me but if I want to listen to music it's a bonus to be able to widen my choices & this Tunecast gives me that in a quick, easy way. Who wants complications after all? Apart from carrying a batch of CDs when driving to delve into or be restricted by whatever music/talk station your car radio is set to you can now - thanks to very simple to perform actions - listen to your MP3 player through your car speakers & be the one who determines what sounds you listen to.There's a brief manual that doesn't need to be too detailed because it really isn't difficult to set this device up. The result is listening to your own chosen songs with clarity as the Tunecast will automatically find a free FM station to use as its own (you can save this on your Tunecast using 1 of 2 memory buttons so the next time you plug it into you car cigarrette lighter socket the Tunecast will instantly find the same frequency again & link to your MP3. As there are 2 memory buttons you can choose 2 channels that otherwise would just be white noise to broadcast your MP3 from).Control volume levels using your car radio & you're up & running - your very own mobile disco with you the DJ only playing music you downloaded. It's an inexpensive & very effective way to enjoy what YOU want & not have to listen to music or talk stations with no choice.I like the benefits of the PRO button feature which has 3 settings that you can select the most suitable of for clarity. Especially useful should there be any muffled or low volume on the chosen FM channels. Radios obviously can lessen in quality depending on the strength of signal they receive so this feature is a big plus in enabling you to avoid interference or loss of sound (even under bridges). I doubt it's faultless in this respect although I've yet to have my music suddenly dip dramatically in standard or vanish.I've yet to use it for a very long journey but so far it's performed very satisfactorily. I'm sure there'll be times I have to adjust the settings or be patient if there should be a loss in standard (I've found lowering volume means you don't pick up background interference but I've not heard much of that anyway thanks to using the PRO button). It's all about finding what suits best in the area you're in. More often than not my Tunecast has been very clear & not given me any problems or a need to fiddle with it. After first use (when you let the Tunecast find suitable free FM channels) all I've needed to do is just plug it in to connect car to MP3 player, turn MP3 & Car Radio on & all's been fine & dandy. No alarms & no surprises as Thom Yorke would say.My overall view is I like it & recommend it. It simply does what it says & gives that extra choice we'd otherwise lack - and if you don't have a car with a CD or tape player what you listen to is limited depending on the station you opt for & not open for you to select exactly what YOU want to.It came well packaged for safe transit & in good time so gets nothing but good feedback from me. Perfectionists will always find faults because....well just because. That's what perfectionists do. For me it does just what I want it to & not being technically suss is a doddle to organise & manage.
