Love! Love! Love!
I started the series with my daughter to encourage her to read more during all this covid stuff and now we're both hooked! It creative, great (not overly complicated) story plot and totally appropriate for young adults and teens. We loved the twilight serious but I felt there was quite a bit of sexual content for a young girl so these were a happy compromise (she love vampire stuff). As a high school teacher, I could comfortably have these books in my classroom and not worry about them being appropriate. Totally recommend for an adult escape or teen read!

Great fun
This b look series is a great series it's not all wars nor love/sex scenes every other paragraph, there are the normal good and bad but good doesn't always win . It's not just blood sucking its a story with new kinds of demons and good guy's and a very different way to approach magic and vamps and life with humans .you don't get the same story in each book with only different characters you get new story characters with old and it's always on the move I think any fantasy or vampires demons humans and witches will really enjoy its series I haven't been able to just walk away from the story it keeps your mind busy all the time ,no same old same old blood guts sex the end it keeps you interested throughout the series. Ages from around 13 and on up I think will enjoy it .Don't get me wrong it's not perfect but die read it again in few years . Good luck

I laughed, I cried, I prayed. Great book!
I laughed, I cried, I prayed and I prayed again. And the end...left me aghast. The House of Night series is truly and honestly completely addictive. As a series, it offers a spellbinding story about Zoey Redbird a vampire fledgling that has been touched by the Goddess Nyx and must battle evil alongside her friends. `Tempted' was a great transition book because, albeit nothing much actually happened, some critical events took place to move the story forward. This book deals with Zoey and the gang deciding to go back to the House of Night and trying to figure out how to deal with and defeat Kalona and Neferet. Also, Zoey knows Stevie Ray is hiding something and she struggles to trust her best friend. There was also the necessary boyfriend drama and some of the aftermath after the battle with Kalona and Neferet. The structure in this volume was different, as it offered the points of view of characters other than Zoey: Stevie Ray, Aphrodite, Stark, Heath, Rephaim, and of course Zoey. So many points of view were unnecessary, albeit interesting. It truly made the story more whole and let use truly get to know the other characters. It did become repetitive and in future volumes I hope to see only two points of view: that of Zoey and Stevie Ray, as they seem the plot driving forces behind the novels. Moreover, Stevie Ray's points of view proved invaluable in her story as it let us learn many things about her.The prose and vocabulary used in this book is what makes me *heart* it so much! It is just so funny and interesting. This book will have you laughing out loud.Nothing much really happened in the plot itself and it takes place in the span of about 3 days, like the previous book, Hunted . But what does happen proves to be rather critical to the progression of the storyline. I think this book set many things in motion that will have grave repercussions. And again...the end...there are no words that can console me. As soon as I realized where the story was headed I had a horrible feeling in my gut and I prayed against hope, it did not end that way.A few things were missing from this book (apart from the next volume in the series!). I missed the gang itself. There was little interaction between them, and even between the Twins! I can't help but think that this was the byproduct of having so many points of view; something that to be sacrificed and it ended up being the interactions between the characters. There was a long of introspection but not a lot of communication. In conclusion, the series is superb. It is truly a funny and engrossing series. This book, specifically, will leave you praying that May 2010 (when the next book, Burned , comes out) was already here.

Very much let down!
I read all the other 5 books this summer and couldnt wait to get my hands on this new installment. Man was I let down! There were several things that really made me feel like this one was a waste of time. First off, nothing happened! I kept thinking the whole time was reading that something really great was going to happen because the end of the last one was so dramatic. I couldn't wait to see where this one would go. But, it didnt go anywhere! The first 300 pages were filled with boy friends and BFF's hiding things from each other. And none of it was fasinating in any way. There were no good scenes with either Stark or Heath. And for all of the talk about the special bond between Zoey and both of there, you sure didn't see it of feel it. You only felt that Zoey wanted to be left alone. The next 15 pages were a build up to a big fat nothing. The last 10 pages had all of what I guess you would call action, but not really.I was especially let down with the council scene. There was nothing to it. There was so much build up to them going and the rules and who could speak, only for Zoey to basically say one thing and then for Kalona and Neferet to walk out. Where the last book was very climactic, this one was the opposite. It felt like more than the lull before the storm, it was the intermission. The other thing I found a bit annoying was all the points of view we were seeing. Steve Rae's was ok. But heck did we really need to see everyone elses as well? It felt to jumbled and made me disconnect to everyone in the book.Lastly, the whole thing with Kalona tricking Zoey and really being with Neferet was so Lauren Blake all over again. It felt very unoriginal. It would have been so much better if that was all true, then at least there would have been some interest in the book and potenial for a cool plot twist. As it stands, I feel it was simply a book written by the authors in an effort for them to capitalize on their series and milk a couple million more dollars from readers before giving the final couple of installments.

good!
this is the book that the series starts getting better, the boy problems simmer to contentment or close as she is likely to get...clearly talking about zoey here. And the story actually begins to get interesting.Ive been buying this series ceap from amazon as im all to aware of the authors main intent on getting money from the readers -by writing about nothing then adding a tad of something you want to know about near the end- and im reading through them quickly and in this one they are just having a break from war, but i think the purpose of this book that many call a filler is to patch up zoeys personal life so she can develop more as a character, which she does.I absolutly love stevie rea and rephaims parts in the series from here on out and even if main character zoey is a boring no fun priestess stevie rae and stark and lets not forget aphrodite pull out a few comments to get a smile across my face like a dork.Unlike many reviews of this book i disagree with zoey being immature and slutty, she is finally making the right choices and showing a bit of back bone towards people. and i just cant understand why you wouldnt like stevie rea's chapters, they make the book worth the read being all dark and mysterious with the raven mocker she has befriended. even if you skim read zoeys parts to get to them!

Still like it
(kind of spoil alert! :>)Although I will absolutely read the whole series I'm starting to understand why Meyers stopped Twilight on the fourth book! After a while the plots start to get a bit tiring and filling up gets annoying. I'm not very sure about the stereotypes portraided on this book, not all gays are 'crazy about shoes' and not all black people speaks like they stepped out of a rap concert! The language is starting to get a bit to full of slangs for my taste, I don't remember saying that much of it on my teenagerhood, c'mon a little more of respect with teenagers and I'm sure they are perfectly capable of using proper wording. Also not cool with the whole 'sex' tension between Zo and every boy around Tulsa! I'm really excited about the Stevie Ra - Rephaim relationship; it is looking really good so far. I really like Stark so I'm hoping Zo will stick with him and stop trying to portrait teenagers like idiots who can not make decisions! However, like I said I will indeed read the whole series, I hope the authors get the grip of it back together!

Fast Paced and Interesting
Tempted is the 6th book in The House of Night series and it picks right up where the 5th book ended. After Kalona was banished, and Neferet going with him, Zoey and her gang begin to assess their current situation. As Zoey's dreams involving Kalona begin to scare her, and when Aphrodite has a violent vision they decide to return to The House of Night. This is where they discover some devastating news, and with the help of a professor they uncover the truth about the visions. It isn't long before they realize they must go to Italy to meet with the vampyre council and discuss Neferet and Kalona. In the book each chapter focuses on one specific character at a time. As the whole story is written in first person, from Zoey's point of view, these character changes give us the opportunity to carry on the story without Zoey present. Most of the chapters are Zoey's however some are Stevie Ray, Aphrodite, and Heath etc.Tempted was a really fast paced book based over about 3 days. My only disappointment was that they didn't spend much time at The House of Night. I look forward to the next in the series.

nice read
OK, I adore this series sooo much! :) And believe me its getting gooooood! The characters are beginning to truly blossom, and the story is gaining many dimensions especially Stark, Stevie Rae, and Heath!Never expected the ending! wow. The only reason it wasn't a 5 star was to me it felt slightly rushed... although in saying that the rush at the end made it much more dramatic, and shocking in a way - read it and you shall understand! :)really good, currently on the next one BURNED, praise to the Cast's! xx
