The Eagles: Hell Freezes Over

i was sitting in my room watching this dvd for about the 4th time this afternoon, and felt compelled to write a review!! i really can't believe that i owned this dvd for about 6 monthes before i got around to watching it because i feel as though i have really missed out!! i am a massive fan of the eagles, and i love both their slower and more upbeat songs, perhaps thats why i wasn't in a hurry to watch this because it is mainly limited to slow to mid tempo songs, HOWEVER that does make it any less thrilling to watch!! the sound quality on the dvd is superb, and the vocal performences are top notch. as usual don henley takes the lead for the most part and his gritty voice is amazing!! there are a few lead vocals by timothy b. schmit(he has an angelic voice) joe walsh, who also has a great distinctive voice, and of course glen frey, who for me has the least 'interesting' voice, but the guy an certainly sing!! oh, and as usual for the eagles, the vocal harmonies are amazing, and you can tell that they are all into what they are doing!! as with the vocals, the music is also superb, they have al obviosuly learnt something over the years, but show that they work best together....joe walsh and don felder spar particularly well together on their guitar solos! as i said the tracks are mainly slower offerings, but are all brilliant, wasted time and i can't tell you why are performed particularly well, as are the two Henley solo offereings, 'the heart of the matter' and 'new york minute'. these two are actually the highlights for me and infact made me go out and buy the Henley abum that they are taken from, although these live versions are actually better i think!! there are several new songs on the dvd, 'love will keep us alive' ad 'get over it'(one of the few 'rockers' on here) are the best!! 'in the city' is also brilliant, as is 'life in the fast lane'. an alternate(almost spanish) version of hotel california is interesting, though not one of the better songs! all in all this a great dvd but one of the best bands ever, and the performence ever dips below excelent!! i strongly recomend this to anyone who is moderatlt interested in the eagles, or just beatfully crafted songs and great musicianship generally!!

They're legends. Almost all the musicians in the band are multi-instrumentalists. Don Henley, Don Felder, Glenn Felder and Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit give an excellent gig to entertain the really enthusiastic audience by playing hits like Hotel California, Desperado, Take It Easy, New York Minute, Life in a Fast Lane and the list is literally endless. They also play some new studio recordings as well. Here 'Got over it' is my personal favourite and I believe most self-respecting rock fans should have a copy of this album!

This has to be the ultimate in Eagles or for that matter any music DVD! Do DVDs wear out? - I've played this enough times in the short time I've had it! The Eagles cannot be outdone with work like this. This DVD is particularly good as the great Don Felder is still with them and all the tracks are great. Truly exceptional tracks are of course Hotel California with the tremendous intro, Wasted Time, New York Minute and Get Over It and Life In The Fast Lane- can you see what I'm doing here? I'm in danger of listing all the tracks- it really is that good. If you could only take one DVD to a desert island then this is THE ONE!

Well, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration with the title! However, as other reviews have stated in detail, this is a good laid-back concert, although it is obvious with the editing that it is not the whole concert and I wonder how much more of the concert we are missing. In the final credits there is a clip of Glenn making fun of Don who has forgotten the words but why put this in as an afterthought? My main disappointment is that the final track "Seven Bridges Road" is only available if you have a DTS Decoder. So, whose bright idea was it to limit the final track to only certain people? Geffen Records you should be ashamed of yourselves!

I bought this as a gift for my 89-year old Dad, who had watched a recent TV documentary on the Eagles, and he raves about it. He has watched the DVD almost every night and is amazed at the musicality and professionalism of the band.

Amazing vocals, huge sound and really enjoyable performance. Hotel California kicks the show off and is a great opener. I started it and meant to watch a couple of songs but watched the whole thing and thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended. They are about to tour the UK and this makes you want to go and see them - even if the tickets start at £100!

Love the Eagles! I saw this concert on TV when the Eagles re-united. It was great then and has lost nothing in the years since. The Eagles are timeless, great songwriters and musicians.. Includes plenty of classic Eagles songs plus some great new ones. Great to have this copy in my collection to watch and watch again.

Excellent music and also good for anyone that like the eagles comes in Excellent condition

Its one of The Eagles best albums. Great live concert in a small TV studio setting. Excellent video and audio.

Probably one of the best concert movies ever released. The second the Eagles open the show with an incredible version of Hotel California (in my opinion, the best version ever recorded), you know you are in for a treat. Any Eagles fan and even casual listeners will enjoy this show, but what makes this DVD unique is the groundbreaking (at the time) DTS surround mixing. If you have a home theater system that you want to show off, this is an absolute must have. The mixing is incredible and makes the experience very unique. It sounds cliche, but with the right sound system you literally (not figuratively) sound like you are surrounded by the musicians. Put this all together with the Eagles notorious aspiration for perfectionism and you have magic. Unfortunately this DVD is showing it's age, visually. While the video quality is not bad, per say, it is recorded in the 4:3 aspect ratio that we have long since forgotten about since the adoption of 1080p. I'm not sure if the original footage was recorded in a format that would allow the remastered release of a full HD Bluray, but it's something I hope for everyday. In the meantime, do yourself a favor and pick this one up while it is still available.

Ho acquistato il Dvd anni fa ma faccio la recensione solo ora anche se non c'è ne sarebbe bisogno, ma se qualcuno più giovane che non li conosce ma è appassionato di musica classica pop rock americana suonata in una splendida versione acustica o vuole fare un tuffo nel passato nn posso che consigliarlo caldamente, qualità ottima e sound perfetto e musica comunque sempre attuale nello stile elegante tipico di questa fantastico gruppo di veri artisti che hanno fatto la storia della musica americana.
