Does the pi top have any speakers for sound

No, the Pi Top does not have its own speakers, you have to use the miniature jack on the the Pi board. I use an X-mini speaker although most PC amplifier speaker systems should work.

Do you need a raspberry pi

Yes. You have the option to buy a Raspberry Pi when you order a Raspberry Pi laptop. In Pi-Top Kit Contents it states "Please Note. Raspberry Pi is NOT included". The only info you get with the laptop is how to put it together. There is no info on the software or hardware.

Seemed a good Idea.

Seemed a good Idea......but The screen casing did not close correctly - this was pre-assembled so you would have expected this to have been spotted before shipping. The Screen powered but did not display anything. I assume a issue with the connection or the cable as it was perfectly ok on an external monitor. Returned Product.....
