Kennedy 520
After reading the reviews with only >60% giving the box a favorable rating and 10% panning it, took a leap of faith to order the box. A company named ZORO was the supplier. The box arrived with the usual sloppy transport handling scuffs; however, it was packed securely and didn't suffer any damage. The signature was clear, paint good, the slides work and the box appears to be sturdy. It's a machinist chest, for a small shop where people still turn handles. It functions well in that capacity and that's why I bought it.

Not even close to the quality that we expect from Kennedy
This is a complete piece of garbage compared to my Kennedy Machinist chests purchase 30-40 years ago. I paid $368 in Sept of 2016 and now I see the current price is $782 in March 2019. That is a sad joke at $782. It was really only worth the $368 but is the configuration that works well for a machinist top chest. Quality-wise, it is no better than the 26" top chest from Harbor Freight that is $199. Bring the manufacturing back to the US and sell it for $1000 to buyers that want the quality. Make a separate item of cheap Chinesium and sell it for $350. Pretending that it is the same as it used to be and making the $350 unit that is returned half the time as defective and selling it for $750+ is not working.

The box all machinists want to have
As a young guy I envied the older machinists in the shop with their Kennedy boxes, as I wheeled about my beat up Craftsman box. Now, after decades out of the trade I wanted to set up a home machine shop, and what better way to store fine Starrett tools but in a Kennedy tool box? I don't know if it is the same quality as those I remember from my youth, and I notice that the drawers are shaky if you pull them from one of the side pulls, but that's not a big deal. Now for the fun part: filling it up with machinist tools. And what goes in that odd shaped center drawer? Machinery's Handbook, of course.

Not quite up to the Kennedy name
I have always loved the Kennedy tool boxes because they were the best you could buy. However, these last many years things have changed a great deal . Cheaper materials thinner materials plastic pulls instead of aluminum I hate when a company does these things and they don’t tell the buyer what they have done. You buy a product that you think is the best and it really isn’t. It so sad. The really sad part is I paid over $ 500.00 for a machinest chest and was disappointed when I received it.Not at all what the Kennedy name has implied over the years. I must say that one company that has always been the best and doesn’t comprise on quality is Starrett every tool they make is the best it can be.
