GET THESE NOW TO CORRECT BAD HABITS
Works well for elementary school fingers. Lightweight, easy to use to properly position fingers for proper pencil grip. Fits just about any standard pencil easily.During covid, students weren't in class to be taught the proper way to hold a pencil for efficient, controlled writing. As a consequence, I see the many creative and absolutely tortured ways students are unsuccessfully trying to hold a pencil. For them, writing is a hated, incredibly inefficient, laborious task! Without being taught how to properly hold a pencil (and form the letters and numbers correctly, but don't get me started on that!), I absolutely cannot imagine how these 3rd grade students will make it through the coming school years where filling out longer and more detailed answers on worksheets will be just a matter of fact. Not everything will be done on a computer so learning to properly hold a pencil and write is essential.PARENTS: take a minute to observe your elementary students to see how they hold the pencil and how they form their letters and numbers today! If you're as tortured watching your student struggle as I am, then GET THESE GRIPS and HELP THEM while there's still time to correct their grip for more efficient writing. Easy for the student to use and with enough practice, these grips will build the muscle memory quickly to the point where these grips will have served their purpose. There are many grip assistance devices out there, and if your child doesn't gravitate to this particular style, then look for one they do like.

Cute but a little big on a #2 pencil
You definitely get your money's worth here but they are a little big on a #2 pencil. Shipping was good & I have no other complaints.

Kids like this grip
I am an occupational therapist at an elementary school who works with struggling students. This grip helps kids with immature hand development write with a functional grasp. Kids like this grip, and are willing to use it. It looks fun, and is comfortable to use. The correct way to put it on the pencil is easy to remember, and it is easy to use. In my district kindergarten and first grade kids write with flair pens which is exceedingly difficult for many of them to hold correctly. Most grips don't work with flair pens, this one does. Of course you have to remove it to close the pen, but kids can manage the grip independently. You may want to separate the flair grips from the pencil grips (different colors, perhaps? ) as the flairs may stretch them out. I haven't had them long enough to assess this, but am assuming that this is the case. The grips are inexpensive enough to provide to as many students as need them. It is a wonderful product.

Cute, fun and likely to engage the kiddos.
So, these are really cute. Other reviews are correct that they are very loose on the pencil - but I think that's a non-issue for this particular gripper. These are not structured and are quite soft – and so would not likely be helpful for a child with motor control deficits. I think these will be great for my typically developing students who just need reminders about where their fingers should be when grasping their pencil. As a school-based OT, the majority of students I see starting pre-K and Kindergarten are coming to school without basic fine motor skills (too much time on video games and watching TV). My typically developing students who just need reminders about correct grasp will enjoy these. The dorsal fin and tail fin go on top, so these provide little kiddos with the visual prompt for which way is up, and the grooves/scoops along the sides show them finger placement. As mentioned before, they are loose on the pencil, but they’re rubber, so when the child has their fingers placed on them for writing or drawing, that minimal pressure keeps them in place – and if they’re not placing enough pressure to keep it in place, these may work as a reminder for them to apply a little more pressure (it does not take a lot!) – so they may help those children who don’t apply enough pressure and have writing that is too light to see/read. In addition, since they are loose, children are able to be more independent when they need to sharpen their pencil. With the tight grippers, often little hands don’t have the strength to slide it out of the way for pencil sharpening. Overall, these are a win.

Such a great buy
I work with special needs grade school age kids. This year I'm working in a first grade class. Learning how to properly hold a writing tool is very important. I surched for an idea, and I came across this cute little fish grips for pencils for small hands. They are such a great hit for the whole class room. They are colorful, you get a choice of 4 to 5 different colors. Most importantly they have made a huge difference with all of the kids. I have passed some on to other teachers.

Material was thin and flimsy
I bought what I though was the same type of pencil holder we loved. Must have been a different seller we bought from. The yellow one is sturdy and bigger. That was from our first purchase. The blue one has plastic hangings and much smaller. Also the plastic is so thin. Don’t by the 30piece pencil grips they are close to garbage.

Essential Classroom Supply
I don't know what I was thinking as I tried to get away without using these this year. These are the easiest grips for students to use as they practice tripod grip. They are natural and easy to hold. No need to try to manipulate it for left handers and right handers.I do have a couple of students who enjoy eating the fish and they don't last long after that. I can usually make it through the year with just one box.
