Great tool for the job
After reading lots of reviews on many websites , some of which were for and some against this item I decided to get it as the alternativemethod of doing it manually did not appeal to me. Starting in a hidden area of tiling to get the hang of it I quickly realised this was going to take some time . It is quite noisy and vibration in the hand is quite uncomfortable after a couple of hours use , (I used it for a couple of hours a day for a week to do the job) . Using it slowly and carefully and it does the job perfectly , getting all the grout out , I now have a great looking bathroom with clean white grout . If you need to do the job then by getting the right tool for the job makes life so much easier. So I would recommend this to you , it takes time as working slowly and carefully really does provide a great finish ready for regrouting

Pretty good for small areas
I had bout 3 metres of grout to remove and this tool really helped.I found I got best results when moving slowing, using a light pressure and letting the tool do the work of removing most of the grout and then going over to finish with a hand tool.Bad points are the on/off switch positioned exactly where your palm is and the tips wear very quickly. In conclusion, I definitely would not want to do a whole bathroom but for small amounts of grout removal, this saved me a lot of time and I would recommend.

Only for the very patient
It took me about 3 hours to 'de-grout' around 15 standard 5"x5" white tiles in my shower. The machine got very hot only after about 10/15 minutes of use and then needed 20 minutes of cooling time before I could start again. Maybe my grout is particularly stubborn but it was a painful process to get results. The results I did get weren't even that impressive as I still need to remove more grout from the areas I'd already gone over. In the end I got so frustrated and bit the bullet and purchased a £70 rotary tool with special grout remover attachments so that I can spend a fraction of the time executing this task. I hope this works out much better than the grout out.Important to note:There is a miniscule thread which is screwed into the underside of the tip which you loosen and tighten to hold the little attachment heads in, and if you drop this (which I did - but by some miracle I found it again!) and lose it your machine is rendered useless. I saw some reviews saying they couldn't work out how to fit the head attachments and I think they may have dropped this thread without realising. Took me a while to realise what had happened.Definitely wear ear plugs/defenders as this is extremely loud. Your neighbours might hate you especially since this takes so long to get results. The vibration started to make my carpel tunnel play up. You need to grip onto this thing for dear life so bear that in mind if you have any wrist/hand pain.Yes, this machine can do the trick. But you'll be stopping every 15 minutes and only covering a very small area each time you pick it up again. Only for the extremely patient among us. Needless to say I was defeated!

Great little tool!!
I am not usually one to post reviews but I feel compelled to share what an amzing product this is. We bought this tool to remove around 30 square metres of floor tile grout. In some places it was hard going and in others was a doddle. I read the reviews that the tool was useless or too hard work and was apprehensive at first. Yes, it is hard work and yes it is time consuming but it does not chip your tiles. There is defo a knack and you will find out once you start using it. Also, I was able to use a sharpening stone and oil to give the tips a bit of extra life. We worked for hours to get the grout out but our tiles were not damaged. You will not be disappointed in this product for £16 but please expect to do a bit of grafting!!

Disappointing – Hard to Use and Poor Results
I was very disappointed with the Vitrex Grout Removal Tool. I expected it to make grout removal quicker and easier, but in reality it was awkward to handle and didn’t give great results. The tool feels bulky and not very well balanced, which makes it tiring to use, especially in tight spaces. Even after spending time on the grout lines, the results were patchy and nowhere near as clean or effective as I’d hoped. For something designed specifically for grout removal, I found it frustrating and inefficient. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations and I wouldn’t recommend it based on my experience.

Works very well, but care needed
This was bought to renew the grout in a kitchen splashback/cooker space and it certainly removed the grout at a decent pace as can be seen in video. Its like a mini jack hammer and care needs to be taken to ensure that the point does is not forced directly onto the edge of a tile as it can chip them, (i did this a couple of times to start as the tile spacing was entirely constant), fortunately I started on the tiles that will be behind the cooker and when they were grouted the small chips were almost invisible on the light tiles, (whacking a big cooker in front of the tiled area also helps mitigate the visual damage).Once i got the hang of it the much more visible tiles above the worktop were all in damaged and it allowed me to start a grove between tiles so i could get a rake into to finalise the prep before I Re-grouted them. Was happy with finished job only down side was it was quite a lot of area and the tool got quite hot to told after prolonged use so i stopped and let it cool down frequently, ( any excuse for a mug of tea) and once it had cooled it worked fine again!Other than that a few more different sized flat tips would have been food but as is it got the job done and cheaper than replacing tiles

Ideal for home use
Bought this to freshen up the bathroom as the grout needed replacing and does the job removes it with a little bit of pressure but does heat up and you will need to take breaks to let the unit cool down but thanks to this tool i had one wall de grouted and re grouted all in a day so it gets 4 stars just watch the heat as it warms up as does start to burn your thumb a little and thats when you know its time to give it a break for 20 mins and let it cool down before starting again
