Could this tool damage the edge of the floor tiles? I just need to change the colour of my floor tile grout.

I have used this tool to remove the grout on my floor tiles and there hasn’t been any damage to the tiles was very easy to use I would recommend it

what's the difference between using this and using a drill (or perhaps a drill with the grout removing bits)?

This wrks like a jack hammer moving forward and back, it does not rotate like a drill does. I would suspect that your drill hammer action maybe to great and damage the tiles.
