There was an area about 12" x 12" where the refinishing product didn't adhere because I didn't prepare it properly, so the finish bubbled after a couple of months. I removed the finish that didn't adhere with a razor blade scraper, cleaned it well with acetone and applied the Rust-Oleum product in about 6 coats until the area was covered. I did this right before leaving on a week long vacation so it had plenty of time to cure. It looks great and matches the tub refinish color pretty well. It does had a strong lingering smell, so open windows and close the door. I definitely wouldn't use this product to do a compete tub refinish. You need to buy the roll on, two-part tub refinishing product and use this for small jobs and repairs. My tub was not far off from being white anyways. I performed the instructions on the can explicitly, and realized that this project was a lot more work than anticipated and that waiting a couple of days to add more paint wasn't a good option. I spayed one full can and covered almost all of the tub. There was very little difference after one coat, but I know that a second coat is generally when you see big color changes. I'm a rattle can pro. I've got awards to prove it. After waiting the required time, I started spraying a second coat. My heart sank. The second coat wasn't even close what I expected. I knew immediately that more cans would be needed. I drove 10 miles up the road and bought all 4 cans the store had. Going off the Sq ft of coverage presented on the front of the can I felt confident I had enough to cover the tub and add some extra for better protection. Went back home and applied all 4 cans thoughout 4 more coats applied evenly. I have never been more disappointed in all my life. I honestly considered the equipment that fills the cans with paint must have been faulty and I bought that batch. No area of the tub made it to being fully white. There were still sanding marks showing through SIX coats of paint. Needles to say, I should have researched it before getting that deep into it, but that's my mistake and I learned the hard way. The 2 part application kit from rustoleum is by far the superior application method and you can buy 2 kits cheaper than I spent to fail miserably. If you buy this product, you will be disappointed. **Q: We recently painted the tile of our tub/shower surround with Rustoleum tub and tile paint, will this help even out portions that aren't covered enough** A: My experience is no. The spray cans coverage is quite thin and limited in coverage. I tried 2 cans as a final application and it did not meet my expectations. Just my opinion based my experience. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Good Temporary Solution *by T***R on April 19, 2016* BACKGROUND and KIT: I moved into a 1960s apartment with a cast iron sink from around the same time. It was incredibly chipped and stained, and I tried all different cleaning products to no avail. Finally, I gave up and bought the Rust-Oleum Tub & Tile kit and some Sheffield porcelain filler. The kit involves brushing on the epoxy and that turned out nicely. However, since it is brushed on, you can see the lines up close. The brushing also loses its shine very quickly. SPRAYING: A few months ago, the spray appeared on Amazon and I raced to buy it. The spray gives a much more even and natural coat, even over the brushed coat, which I did not have to remove or sand. The final result looks pretty amazing (see image). A lot of the bad reviews for the spray are from people who did not properly prep their sink or tub. If you have rust, staining, or chipping, you have to clean and fix them before spraying or the defects will seep through the paint. Common sense! MORE TIPS: Please remember to wear a mask and cover surrounding areas before spraying, especially for large areas like tubs. Otherwise, you'll end up with brain damage, writing silly reviews about how the spray residue got all over the place. That usually happens when you spray too close to the surface, which tends to result in residue flying everywhere and a thick goopy layer. Don't forget to allow the spray to cure for at least 24 hours. I'd recommend 48 hours to be safe. RESULT AND CLEANUP: Overall, the spray did a really nice job and was enough to cover a kitchen sink, but this solution is certainly temporary. After nearly a year with the kit, I had to use this spray as a touch-up. It has been 4 months since the spraying and I can see that the sink will need another layer soon. The paint loses its shine and chips easily. To clean up and remove "mistakes", spray the area with Goo Gone or a citrus cleaner. Let it soften and spray a little more.
