A nice compact unit which is as described. Only problem is partially removing the cradle to insert and change batteries as has been mentioned by other reviewers too. I have worked out an acceptable way to move the cradle by removing the very front elastic band from the cradle slipping it over the tabs with finger nail or any suitable tool and pulling it off around the front completely. Then gradually but firmly pushing the cradle forward until the read elastic bands leave the locating slot in the back and then continue to slide the frame forward until the battery compartment is uncovered. Then use a flat blade screwdriver to flip open the battery compartment cover and insert/exchange the batteries as required. Put back the battery cover and slide back the cradle until the rear elastic bands locate into the slot in the casing and then refit the front elastic band that was removed previously. Do NOT try to force the cradle forward like it says in the instructions as you may end up breaking the cradle since there is NO clearance between the widest part of the mic and the elastic bands and the cradle IF both front elastic bands are left in place as yo try and force the cradle forward. Otherwise seems like a nice unit... Only tested it on PC mic input so far and expect to update review in near future after it has been tried on a Nikon DSLR a few times. It is true left and right stereo as described and not front and side like some fake "stereo" units. Also the brushed nylon bag is too small, see photo and feels horrible to the touch.

I have ended up videoing the local playgroup Christmas show for the last 3 years and each time have used my father in laws high Def recorder. This year I wanted to try my DSLR camera but wanted to improve the audio. I should have spent big but saw this and gave it a go. I put on the same record and recorded it as follows1. Camera microphone...... it was surprisingly good but did have a lot of hush and hiss in the background2. With this microphone on....the sound was almost identical but with little background noise, so an improvement3. This mike with the dead cat fitted.....almost exactly the same as no.2.I will use it as required and will get a full idea once I start editing.NOTE. To change the batteries you have to fully remove the anti vibration bands to get access to the cover. Once inserted you then have to re fit the 4 rubber bands. If (as happened to me) the batteries are duff then you have to go through the whole dismantling episode again.I hope this mike works but I will not buy another due to the rediculous system for changing batteries.I plan on saving up and buying a professional mike as I should have done so from the start.

This microphone overcomes the problem of the built in microphone finger noise, that is generated on the cameras body, when the lens is focused during recording. This microphone sits on top of the camera but needs to be set up. I set this microphone up carefully using the manual record levels on my camera; because as with all equipment when using the the auto level setting the background noise level gain in quite moments is unaceptable. YOU must remember to switch THE MIKE ON when recording... The quality of the stereo sound is brillant for its cost. The fitting of the battery is fiddly hence lots of spare rubber bands! The build quality is light but reasonable robust. I am well pleased with this piece of equipment.

really improved the audio quality of my videos.it's great for solo musicians, or smaller bands, doesnt quite cope with heavy metal bands in a small pub but for what it cost it's great at most things. copes with a good amount of crowd noise while still picking up music too when outside.

hard to change battery's and be better if come with AA not AAA or usb charger. Sound quality are ok, also in wind.

Poorly constructed - the front mic mesh was not secured properly and dropped off. I could hear a constant hiss. However, customer service and delivery of product was excellent.

Replaced a Hahnel 100 with this , should have done it ages ago.Stereo works great.
