Great journal, works as you think it should, lines are good in space, the cover and pages feel very sturdy

These are the best notebooks & the only ones I use for work. The paper is thick and there is no bleed through which helps if you want to write on both sides of the paper.

I'm in my 60's and over my life I have tried many, many different notebooks. Twelve years ago I discovered Black n' Red and have used them ever since. Here are the highlights. - They have different sizes for your preference. - Thick front and rear protective covers - Strong spiral binding that resists bending/deforming - Crisp, smooth white pages that are sturdy to write on if you are one to apply pressure when you write. I think that the black and red color styling are classy looking. I add a ribbon as a page marker then I'm good to go. I even give them away as gifts. After trying several different sizes I settled on the 6-11/16 x 9-5/8 size as the the most versatile for me. Small, easy to carry yet large enough for notes and sketching. I don't recall how I discovered them, but I'm glad that I did. AND . . . . If you are wondering, no one paid me to write this review. I just LOVE the their notebooks.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I'm a HUGE fan of Black n' Red spiral notebooks, this size being my favorite. Bleed through: They're is no bless through even when using a fountain pen. Paper thickness: Paper is a good thickness. Functionality: The micrperforation makes this notebook so much more useful than an ordinary notebook. You have the option of keeping what you wrote, discarding it or even writing letters because the perforation is so smooth. The Skribee function is an added plus.

I have loved black n red notebooks for almost 10 years now and I only took a star away because they are so expensive for what they are ($13 each) and it just seems like so much when you can buy notebooks for a dollar. But the dollar notebooks have pages that are flimsy and see through, but pens just write so nicely the black n red pages. The paper material is much nicer than regular loose-leaf lined paper and is more similar to a thick, high quality printer paper with a very smooth finish. This will probably also really only matter to the pen/highlighter girlies but the page color is a bright white so all your pens are going to look really good, compared to some notebook pages that have a creamier hue. I personally love the spiral with the firm hardback cover so I write any where using the hardback as a writing surface. It is a very stiff material that does not bend easily, which I think keeps the notebook from getting crumpled in a backpack or while traveling. I wish came in larger sizes (more than 70 pages), but you can write on both side without any bleed through. The pages do have SCRIBZEE on them if you use that app, which I don’t, but the icons being on page doesn’t do anything to the usability of the pages. One other slightly annoying thing, the pages are slightly smaller than a US letter page so if you are tucking in pages, the edges will stick out on all sides.

Everything about it is nice except for a couple of things that don't really bother me too much. I like the style of paper, its great for my use. The texture of the cover feels nice also. The few quotes in the notebook were kind of cool. The ads were not. The spiral binding used only goes one way, which is a bit annoying but not a deal-breaker. The left side rule is pretty much non-existant, which is my one and only issue. As I like to use it for numbering/ordering and other things. Its probably like this because the pages are made to be torn out. It has an added feature for scanning pages with your phone. Except for the placement of the 4 corners is not correct. They should be placed at the corners directly and they are not. I tested it out just for fun and noticed the problem instantly. If you want a notebook that is going to be used for scanning then avoid this. I gave it a 5 because I use it all the time and enjoy it. I use multiple different notebooks depending on the application. I will probably try to find something a bit more my style though but wouldn't mind buying another one of these. Dragon sticker is from my motherboard, added it since it looked better on here than my PC case. :)

Great notebook. The size is perfect.. The paper is high quality-fountain pen ink does not bleed through and does not ghost. Only negative: would appreciate more paper.

I use it for class notes in college. I write with fountain pens, and don't get any bleeding even with the wettest pens. Very minimal ghosting too. Pros: - Paper quality is excellent!!! Works great with fountain pens. - Feels smooth/luxurious and a real pleasure to write on. - Heavy/thick paper (24 lb) really stands up to abuse. - Folds backward: opens completely to fit on the tiny little fold-out desks they have in lecture halls. - Hard cover: allows me to use it almost like a clipboard, leaning against the edge of the desk to get a better angled surface for more comfortable writing. Cons (mostly subjective): - Not enough pages! I burn through one of these every 3-4 weeks for my college notes. - Ruled lines are a bit too wide for me. More like wide-ruled than college-ruled. - Kind of heavy due to the hard cover. - Perforations are a bit difficult to tear out. If I could get one of these with a dot grid ruling and 2-3x the number pages, that would be just about my ideal perfect notebook ever, but ya can't always get what you want... In any case, this is definitely the best notebook I've used BY FAR.

Good quality, worth the price

The Black n' Red Notebooks have such a professional finish with hardback cover and double spiral binding. The Optik white paper is great to use with any pen, including Frixion (erasable) and wet Fountain pens; allowing you to write on both sides of the paper with no bleed or show-through. This notebook looks great in a professional setting, and you'll get lots of comments asking what brand it is! As a bonus, it supports digitizing your notes with the Scribzee app, allowing anywhere-access to your notes, and it even supports real handwriting search. Far superior to the Rocketbook app, I now use Scribzee for backing up and searching all my notes!
