Last of the real radios
A real radio with a tuning knob. Sounds superb. Looks the part. My house is littered with Roberts radios. Big ones, little ones. Some are ten years old and all still working. The only reason I buy the next Roberts is that the variable resistor for volume control goes faulty after a few years and cackles when you turn it. Nothing wrong with the radio machinery. The little R9924 is probably the best radio(s) I have ever owned. Yet they stopped making that one years ago. Now this R9928 is being phased out too. It makes me really cross. Don't Roberts understand that not everyone wants radios with flashing lights on them. No, I always have and still prefer the corded hand tuner. If you want one of the last of the trad. Roberts radios buy one before they vanish. Mine was supplied by Moores of Ballymena who provided a quick service and delivery. Thank you.

Roberts Analogue Radio - Update
Purchased this analogue radio to listen to the Today programme, and the Cricket on LW after spending a fortune on batteries for a DAB. Initially very pleased - excellent battery life, good reception on FM, and LW. Four pre-set options (found these to work fine). Well made, great sound and easy to tune. Update - since purchasing I have noticed that the radio is frequently prone to losing the Radio 4, and Radio 2 signals and I'm having to re-tune every 5 - 10 minutes. A little disappointed now; hence previous 5 star rating down to 3.

Great radio
Superb sound quality - best ever for a portable radio ! Easy to use also. On/off button on top better than our existing Roberts with side control. Well done Roberts !!

Very good radio for the price
Our household has 3 other Roberts radios all of which are excellent so I was happy to buy this one 'blind' for an elderly parent even though it is at the budget end of the Roberts range. It is a straightforward no frills FM (and AM/LW) model with a good sound and 4 optional FM presets - all of which were exactly what was required. All of its functions lived up to their billing and I would have rated it 5 star except that the presets are a little fiddly to use and the tone controls do not have much range. However this could be seen as nit picking. Everything works, it sounds good, looks good and is simple to use (once the presets are set) and is very good value for money.

Great no nonsense radio
This is a brilliant little radio. Very easy to tune, holds its pre-sets perfectly and doesn't go fuzzy in the evening. Will plug in or takes batteries and works just as well either way. All the selection buttons stand proud of the top of the set, so no fiddling around for them. Would recommend to anyone wanting a no nonsense radio with good sound quality.

Buy a good Roberts radio but not this cheaper model.
Lightweight, poor quality sound and not what I was expecting at all. Surprisingly fiddly to tune and with tiny buttons at the rear which then loose the tuning every time a finger catches on them when the radio is picked up or moved. I already own two Roberts radios which look similar in size style and shape, but they are heavier and of far superior quality all round with automatic tuning and must have cost more when my father purchased them years ago. This one unfortunately will have to be returned, especially as I ordered it for a ninety-four year old who suffers with confusion (Alzheimer's).

Presets are useless
The presets wander from where you set them, so you end up hving to fine tune anyway, so I just use the tuning knob exclusively. But the presets was one of the things I bought it for, so that's disappointing. The sound is good, but it needs bass to be at max for all types of radio listening, so that's another redundant control. So many redundant controls so only 3 stars

Quality and user friendly
Great radio, excellent sound, easy to see display and presets. Preset controls at back slightly fiddly and can be knocked easily putting them out of adjustment but it is a lovely radio, stylish, simple and sturdy without being heavy. Uses batteries or mains. Would buy another.
