I did not give it 5 stars as I was expecting it to be a bit bigger as Daiwa sizes are different to Shimano etc. A 5000 Daiwa is equivalent to 8000 size in most reels so I was expecting the reel to be a bit bigger but it seems to be the standard 4000 size. This size will work well with a 9 or 10ft rod but may be a bit small for an 11ft bass rod which is what I was hoping for. For that reason I always use cheap reels on the boat/kayak and get a couple of years of them before replacing and it's a absolute toss up between this Daiwa and the Shimano Catana ( https://amzn.to/2XBhUzN ) in terms of what is best. I've bought at least half a dozen of each and they are both fantastic reels. This Daiwa has a smooth reliable drag and very solid construction.
