Fish Mate 9000 Pond Pump

5A fuse blows on an uphill start. 13A seems OK.

Old pump bust, thought this would fit the bill, except no UK plug fitted to new pump, so now I have to shop for one, old pump had welded plug attached, so unable to move over to this one. Uk policy is all electrical items requiring plug should have one fitted..

To replace an earlier model Fishmate pond pump that finally gave up the ghost after over 15 years service!This one is more powerful for its rating , quieter and can be serviced and wear parts replaced if necessary.Our pond is about 20000 litres and this pump can serve the gravity filter box, a waterfall and provide a fountain at the same time if you want it. Great pump easy to install and ran effectively from a new protected outside switch. Electrical safety etc confirmed by qualified electrician (who installed it last year). Lasted less than one year. Intermittent fault, the pump runs for a few mins and then stops. It doesn’t start every time it’s switched on either. It was cleaned (not necessary) and refitted to a clear unblocked exit pipe. Failed to work or ran for a few seconds only. Will try to get money back but anticipate this is going to be a long-long saga. In meantime will get another one otherwise can anticipate it will be months returning, negotiating and receiving replacement. Hence will try for full refund for item not being fit for purpose.

The only reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is uncertainty on their life. This is third I have owned. The first lasted over four years continuous running but then there were no spares available. The second lasted 18 months and Amazon promptly refunded my money under the excellent 3yr warranty (Oase 5 years but couldn’t justify price). Easy to clean.

I have installed this in a small garden pool and use it to pump a waterfall 14' which it does efficiently. The fountain feature is also effective. It arrived the day after ordering and was easy to install. I have only had it for 10 days so cannot comment on its durability. Hopeful this will be good, too. I felt for product was a very reasonable price.

We had a fishmate 7000 before but it only lasted just over 3 year's as opposed to the one before that that lasted 10 year's! We could only find a fishmate 9000 for sale on Amazon so plumped for it as the pond just wasn't the same without movement. I am glad we did because both water features are flowing much better and the fish seem livelier!

The pump is great - my pond was in pretty poor condition after my old pump broke down, but in 24 hours or so with this pump the water was beautifully clear once again. Would recomend it without hesitation. However, I do have to mention that I was pretty shocked when it was delivered - there was no wrapping to the item, just my details stuck on a label on the box, which incidently had been opened, there wasn't even any cellotape over the opening tab to secure it! Good job the delivery people were honest (Post Office). Null points for that I'm afraid.
