Pintoy Wooden Fire Engine

I bought this for my grandson Christmas 2010 and it is a fantastic toy - he also has the firemen and fire station and it gets played with every day - it is sturdy and still looks as new as when bought and it does take some bashing from him - highly recommend.Update August 2012 - Thought that this toy deserved an update as it is still intact, looking like new and this along with the matching firestation (purchased by my daughter) is used almost daily by my 3 year old Grandson, he pulls it about, bangs it into things and still it looks like it was purchsed yesterday. The matching figures and their tools are also played with much vigour and they too are intact and like new - so for a wooden toy (although at the expensive range in toys) this has got to be one of the best and most durable.He also has the Pintoy Police Station, which again goes through the paces - fantastic range.

I will repeat the same review as for the Fire Station, as it's likely that people will buy the two. The Fire Station itself is well made although follow the construction sequence closely, not the easiest thing to do, and if you want the roof panels to be 'square' then do not tighten any of the top assembly screws until you have the roof panels on and 'square' then tighten all a little at a time. The Fire Engine is the same made quality although the ladder did need adjustment to say in position, the extension ladder does not fit on very strongly and the hose also does not stay in position too well.More importantly, my supplier added very little extra packing to the maker's presentation box, consequently there was a large hole in the packaging upon receipt, by chance the actual toys had been missed by whatever made the penetrating hole.Hence only 3 stars overall.

Pretty much everything about this product is excellent: the made quality, finish and design are really good to see. I would always choose wooden toys over the plastic options and this toy I think offers better value for money.The only disappointment is that there are no figures with the engine, which I know you can purchase separately, but I do think that's a bit of a con.

Don't normally rate products, but this one deserves it, lovely made product bought as a Christmas present for a 20 month year old grandchild, to young, not if supported with a bit of you tube of Fireman Sam, and clips of fire engines, young man has grasped concept of siren and fire hose. Seems to much enjoyed, appreciate we have bought a little earlier than recommended age, so have removed the steering wheel, a lovely touch that can be left handed or right. (just a tad to small at this age. Think any child would enjoy though do recommend re programming the child, after all their diet is watching Peppa Pig. A good buy and Fire Station next...

A wonderful well made solid wooden fire engine with working ladders, string hoses that attatch, and a cab roof that comes off so you can put figures( not supplied) in the driving seat. Small person for whom this was a gift is nearly 3 and was clearly impressed; it's so well made I would imagine it could happily take a lot of very intensive physical play without suffering permanent harm, and will hopefully become a treasured toy. Not cheap but definitely worth the money; i would recommend this to anyone with small male people in their families, but I suspect some girls would love it too, and their dads.

This fire engine is far better than I imagined. It is a really really good quality toy that I can imagine my boisterous nephew will still have in a few years time. It will be missing some of its smaller parts and will have a few chips but it will still be going strong. He absolutely loves it and has already pretended to put out fires in all of his sisters dolls houses, cars etc etc. Brilliant! If you are thinking about getting it and are happy to pay the price (which it is worth) then do it. I can't imagine a better fire engine than this.

Lovely, great big wooden fire engine. Only 3 stars because the ladder is in 2 pieces and the plastic connecting hooks broke immediately.

Fab toy. My 2 year old loved it, and believe he will do so for many years to come. One little prob: we had to stick down both lids with BluTac as they kept coming off, which my son found frustrating. However, I doubt older kids would gave a problem with this.
