Very useful even for a techie
Before I buy anything I’m like all of you. We read through reviews to try to determine where to spend our hard earned money.Well look no further. If your like me, like all things IOT. I was of course almost overwhelmed by the plethora of water sensor devices. I have a lot of home automation and wanted to initially get one that is I integrated to where I can monitor it from the app. Then I thought I want someone thing less smart. A lot of the value in the devices we buy don’t always care about cyber security. So having another cheap device connected to my network would potentially introduce a vulnerability. This device does one thing very well. It alerts you very loudly if any liquid makes contact to any of the contact points below. You should always pair and alert system with an actual shutoff

Inexpensive Protection Against Water Damage, No Base Station Necessary
I purchased six of these and will likely purchase three more in the near future. Having had a water heater which because of age burst on me overnight some years ago and ran for several hours damaging my house, I've been conscious of dealing with water leaks as soon as they occur. Years later I had a kitchen sink that began leaking also. These leak detectors you can use stand alone or pair them with the home security base station also from Tolovivio. I have the base station and so it was a no brainier to paid them all together so I'd get alerts via my cellphone while I'm out at work, play or running errands (cause leaks never occur politely while you're at home...). They're extremely easy to set up, took all of five seconds to pair each to the base station. For the price paid you really can't go wrong with an inexpensive first line of protection considering how costly water damage can be...

Put these under every wet appliance in your home, immediately!
How can ten bucks save you thousands? Install one of these under everything in your house that can potentially leak: refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, water heater, toilets, and sinks. If you have a problem corner, prone to flooding, put one there too. Household leaks and flooding cost a fortune to fix if you don't catch them in time. Alarms like this help you catch them before anything serious happens. These alarms can only be used in a flat position, unlike the brand I have used in the past (Govee). Although they are small (palm sized) I prefer to be able to stand the alarm up vertically in tight spaces like behind the fridge. However--and this is crucial--you really don't want to wedge these in where you can't easily retrieve them when they go off. You really don't want to hear that alarm for 5 minutes while you try to pull the fridge out or move the washing machine aside to reach and silence it.Is this alarm loud enough to hear throughout the house? Absolutely. They seem extremely sensitive. One went off in my hand and another went off when I first removed it from the box and pulled out the battery protector. I couldn't get through further testing without traumatizing my dog. I had moved to the garage, but he still reacted. As other reviewers pointed out, tiny battery screws are a huge design flaw. All products should be designed with consideration for users who might be older and have problems with either manual dexterity or vision. Many people don't have a tiny screwdriver, either. So, while I think this type of product is essential, I'm giving it a 3-star "just OK" review for those design concerns.I did not install the app or apply for the warranty so I can't speak to the technical aspect of this product. I scanned the QR code and got kind of a high-pressure sales pitch, so I immediately closed the browser and ignored it. Wi-Fi connection is super useful for applications like vacation house or rental unit, but not needed for use at home, in my opinion. This product DOES offer remote monitoring, but I have not set it up.I have more than one friend whose remodeled kitchen was destroyed by a leaking water line from the icemaker. Another lost a new, gorgeous vacation home--total loss--because a $0.79 bolt failed on the instant water heater and flooded the unattended house for 2 weeks. You really, really need to turn off your water when you leave home for any length of time, and attend to leaks quickly when they happen.Alarms like this make a great housewarming gift and are a must for any homeowner or renter.
