Recently bought this filter and found some black particles after filtering. Is this filter problem or water ?

When preparing your cartridge you may see a fine dust which during the first few litres of filtered water can discolour your water a bluey/grey. These are fragments of carbon, which may have rubbed off during the transit process. To eradicate any carbon dust which may be present, preparation of your cartridge is crucial and we recommend the following process: 1. Remove packaging from cartridge. 2. Fill basin/sink with cold water. 3. Immerse cartridge under water and vigorously shake from side to side for 10 seconds. (you will notice small bubbles rising to the surface of the water from the cartridge). 4. When the bubbles have stopped, remove the cartridge from basin/jug and place in the system. 5. Filter 2 - 3 batches of water through the system to remove any carbon dust from the cartridge (carbon dust can become dislodged during transit). Kind regards, BRITACare

What’s the difference between this model and previous model?

Not too sure - the only difference I have seen is that you don't have to remove the lid to fill with water as there is a mechanism you can fill water through from the tap. That's the difference from my previous model but I had had that for a long time until I broke the lid and had to replace it. Hope that helps🙂

Any other owners of the elemaris xl maxtra+ jug have an issue with water getting trapped between the filter and the drainage?

Yes, it's annoying. Also even if it -looks- clean, be sure to hand wash it once per month, as some... particles stay attached all around, creating some transparent slime (you can verify it by wiping it with a white piece of absorbing paper). I'm sad because all of a sudden the handle cracked! There's no way it can hold 3.5L! Same experience as the user above - it can't hold much weight, it's designed to break! I may choose some smaller jug, apparently they're going to be out of stock for several weeks...

Can you recycle the filters?

I live in Scotland, and the nearest Brita filter recycling facility (according to their website) is over 250 miles away. So... not really, no. They contain all manner of stuff, including a lot of nonstandard material, so can't simply be recycled by local councils as plastic.
