Fantastic, no-frills mechanical keyboard with crappy caps that you'll likely want to replace in the future
After my beloved Logitech keyboard died, I decided to switch to a mechanical keyboard and see what all of the fuss was about. I'm a software developer, and asked some friends for recommendations. The Filco was highly regarded for its minimalist look and quality build. Other options were models from Corsair, WASD, and Das Keyboard. I ultimately decided on the Filco because of its no-frills design, heavy weight, and virtually unanimous rave reviews. I absolutely made the right choice. The keyboard is heavy, perhaps not quite as heavy as a model M or any keyboard of that era, but it's heavy by today's standards. I really pound away on this thing some days, and it never moves, not a millimeter. It feels solid as a rock - almost as if it's built into my desk. The quality rubber pads on the bottom likely help as well. There's not much to note about the design. It's minimalist. There's virtually no bezel. It's just keys. The Filco name is on the bottom right of the keyboard, facing you, beneath the arrow keys. Looking down on the keyboard, there's no branding.Using the keyboard is obviously a pleasure. This should probably be credited to the Cherry MX switches, and not necessarily the Filco, but that's coming from someone without much experience with other mechanical keyboards. It is an absolute pleasure to type on, though. If you've never used a mechanical keyboard before, it will ruin you forever. My MacBook feels like a children's toy now, and I hate typing on it more than I did before getting the Filco. Keyboards that I thought were good, like an older Logitech (membrane) gaming keyboard that I have, feel likely mushy garbage now.My only real complaint about this keyboard is its keycaps. Others commented on their low quality as well, so I wasn't surprised. Even with the negative reviews, though, I was surprised that my Shift key is half worn off after just about a month of use. And it was a light month, too, since I bought the keyboard right before the holidays. The caps are easy enough to replace, though, so it doesn't bother me. I'll probably wait a bit and replace all of them at once. I didn't bother docking a star for this since the keyboard is so wonderful in every other way. But be warned: the caps are cheap and apparently wear quickly. If you're looking for replacement caps, the ones that WASD sells fit perfectly on the Filco. But be warned: their black doesn't quite match the black keys that come on the Filco (you can see this in the picture I attached). They're not too far off, but enough to notice if you're looking for it.If you're a Mac user, WASD sells Command keys and a set of Function keys if you'd prefer a more native look. They're cheap enough, and very easy to replace. My escape key, function keys, command keys, and arrow keys are all from WASD.

Solid Construction, Smooth Operation
The Filco Majestouch-2, Tenkeyless, Click-Action Keyboard (Model Number: FKBN87MC/EB2) is a marvel of solid, high-quality construction and precision, efficient operation. I have always considered the old IBM Selectric typewriter keyboard to be the pinnacle of tactile, efficient, responsive keyboard action, and I have always been looking for a worth successor to that keyboard experience in the era of computers. The Filco keyboard with blue mechanical switches is the first product I have encountered that embodies all the virtues of the old IBM Selectric keyboard action. Another appeal of the Filco keyboard for me is the elimination of the numerical keypad as an integral part of the keyboard. By eliminating this portion of the keyboard and thereby shortening the keyboard on the right-hand side by several inches, I am able to bring the mouse much closer to the keyboard, reducing the strain on my right arm and shoulder resulting from having to maneuver the mouse farther out to the right when the numerical keypad is built into the keyboard. I never use the numerical keyboard because when I need to end numbers, I use the top set of keys on the qwerty keyboard, and if I need to do calculations, I use a calculator. The solidity of the Filco is amazing. Just the sheer weight and feel of the keyboard drives home the toughness and precision construction of this keyboard. The only person who might not be happy with this keyboard is someone who does not want to hear the sound of the keys, as there is a pronounced sound produced by the mechanical switches under each key. Also, if there are others in the same room who might be annoyed by the click-click of the keyboard, that might be another reason not to purchase this keyboard. I am not a gamer, so I cannot comment on how suitable this "blue mechanical switch" keyboard would be for games (I think there is another color of switch that is popular for gaming, however). Aside from the qualifications I have mentioned, I highly recommend this keyboard.

Built like a tank
No LEDs. No Numpad. No Gimmicks. Just Quality.I've had a Filco Majestouch 2 for 11 years. I've spilled Coca-Cola on it. I've spilled mineral water on it. I've had to clean out the PCB and the controller (as a result of the liquid spills). This thing took it all in stride.Pros:- It's a tank. Seriously. The steel plate gives it heft.- It's reliable. There are a lot of "gamer" keyboards out there that aren't built as well or as simply as this one.- Consistently manufactured. This TKL feels just like my full Majestouch2 from 11 years ago so the manufacturing is consistent. This is what sets Filco apart from say Leopold.Cons:- Wire isn't detachable. Changing it requires opening the keyboard up.- Wire isn't USB-C. With the transition to USB-C, it'd be nice to have some included way of easing the transition, be it an adaptor or changeable wire.- The Keycaps. As nice a job as Filco does manufacturing the keyboard, they come short when it comes to the keycaps. While printed consistently, it would be nice if they were double short PBT caps instead.- "Aging" Design. As an aging person the design appeals to me but nowadays you can custom make keyboards with unique materials which make the Filco look dated.I'd recommend this product but also recommend taking a look at Leopold.

The best keyboard I've used so far.
This mechanical keyboard is one of the best keyboard out there. It uses Cherry MX Blue switch, which is great for typist like me. The blue switch made me do less typos as I was using red switch. The clicking sound while being quite loud, it is satisfying and makes you feels great while typing. It does a great job for gaming too, as the anti-ghosting feature enables you to press as many as buttons you want. The anti-ghosting feature doesn't work while using in USB mode, it does work when using the bundled PS/2 converter. Very recommended keyboard!
