I hate ironing but after buying this
I hate ironing but after buying this, life is a whole lot easier. Still not a big fan of ironing but it doesn't fill me with the same dread anymore. This iron glides over creased items with ease removing creases very quickly. The tank does empty a little quicker than standard irons but due to its speed and efficient ironing you get more items ironed between each fill. Leave it in ECO mode and you get plenty of steam to iron lots of items. I've only had to set it to max once or twice for excessively creased items but ECO mode still gives excellent results. Not noisy at all as some people seem to think. It's a steam generator so obviously you get a buzzing as the motor is working but it's hardly loud. I watch TV while ironing and haven't had to turn the volume up. I'd say about twice as loud as the buzz you get from a fridge. The weight is a little more than a standard iron but not excessive. Spent just over an hour doing a huge pile of ironing without any aches or pains in my arm. I like the fact it's heavier as my last irons steam was so feeble I had to push down on the iron to remove creases, this iron you just move around the item with ease and creases are gone in seconds. In conclusion this is an amazing iron and well worth the price. Top quality solid build with all the functions and features you need and exactly what you would expect from Bosch. More than highly recommended.

Simply the best iron I have ever had.
I keep it on 'eco' and it doesn't matter what I am ironing it is at the perfect temp. There is just the right amount of gentle steam constantly and oodles of gushing steam as and when I call for it. I do a lot of dressmaking and once I have turned the iron on I just leave it on until I have finished my sewing session - it goes to 'sleep' and comes back in as soon as I touch the handle and a few seconds later we are in business again - just like magic? At first I had it on the main steam-generating mode but found myself almost in a sauna and well steamed up windows - too much steam for my needs hence the move to the 'eco' mode which is absolutely perfect. The steam generator unit is incorporated inside the iron body as opposed to the usual type which has an external generator and water tank which has to sit close by you then you have to put up with the steam supply tube from the tank to the iron as well as the electric cable - very cumbersome and I wouldn't go back to that sort again. It can be left on the fabric of the ironing board and will not burn it. I keep a filling cup full of de-ironised/de-mineralised water close by on the window ledge so it's easy to top up as and when needed. Topping up is simple, just flip the cap open and top up at any time, but you need to have the iron standing at an angle so the water water trickles in via the back wall of the filling area - if the iron is standing flat I found the water runs out where the cap is hinged and gets air bubbles which stop the filling flow. Obviously it uses more water than other regular steam irons but that's because it is giving me a better supply of steam. I only use de-ironised/de-mineralised water which is easily available very cheaply in B&Q or Asda. I do not put any tap water in this iron. I suppose the internal generator probably adds to the weight of the iron but not to any extent that I have noticed. I would not swap this iron for any other!!

the iron heats up almost instantly and the functions are genuinely useful. it has a sensor so it automatically switches ...
finally one of the manufacturers has designed a proper motorised steam generator iron without the huge cumbersome base (it doesnt leak either, which is a bonus!). the iron heats up almost instantly and the functions are genuinely useful. it has a sensor so it automatically switches off if it hasnt been used for a while. solid piece of kit and is very good quality as you would expect for the price. my only negative comments are that its pretty heavy so if youve got a lot of ironing to do, be prepared to end up with repetitive strain injury afterwards! i can iron 3 shirts with it on Eco mode before it runs out of water, so have a water top-up to hand otherwise it gets annoying walking back and forth to the tap. in its favour its a fantastic iron - i dont enjoy ironing at all, so for me anything that gets the job done quickly is worth the money, and this certainly does!!

nice big tank
Just done a whole pile of washing on my iron which arrived within 2 days of the order. Firstly, nice big tank. From plugging it in, to using it, it was ready in less time for me to erect the ironing board. My last iron took about 5 minutes to heat up and dripped like crazy. This iron is a joy, I hate ironing, but now I feel I could iron professionally! There is a light which says temp ready or something which is handy as I've had irons before which I was unsure when it was ready with beeps and flashing lights etc. There are loads of lights on this and it feels like I am using a spaceship! Other reviewers say it is heavy, but I haven't noticed the difference. I would say it is nice and thirsty as I refilled it several times, but that is because it is so full of steam, it powered through my pile of jeans and tough creases. It provides a small descaler liquid pot which is a nice touch. When you iron it makes a small vibration noise, but is basically silent (ie not annoying). Auto shut-off when your hand isn't on the handle - useful. You get what you pay for - this has a lot of power which means quick start-up and continuous steam. You can also use it as a dry iron which is useful. Can iron vertically - useful for curtains and when you don't want to take suits off the hanger.
