Back to my childhood
I bought this as I remember the books as a kid, they are still great entertainment now (perhaps it's just me refusing to grow up). My only (slight) criticism is the use of £1 coins to pay for things. The original would have been £notes. Surely anybody reading these would realise from the language, the customs, the way of life, that £coins didn't exist then. Even the youngsters must know this.Silly point I know, but it just took the edge off a bit.

3 cracking famous five books
3 more famous five books and so far the best three that I've read. These ones kind of flowed together. You could almost rename it '18 months with Julian, Dick, Anne & George, and never forgetting Timmy the dog'.Definitely the best three books so far and worth the five stars. My only criticism is that they're playing around with the words in places. They need to stop that it makes things sound stupid!

The Famous Five series must be one of the best for young children. Loved them when I was young. Still as enjoyable 55 years later. It's amazing how well they have stood the test of time. There are a few modernisations such as 5p instead of a shilling and the children occasionally dressing in jeans instead of shorts. This does not detract from the pleasure these stories still bring although I wish the publishers had left well alone.
