Unique and beautifully designed game, perfect for young teens through to adults.
This game is so good that I can’t believe it’s not more well known. I can only think that the high price puts people off.We bought this to play with a twelve year old who absolutely loves the game/app combo. It’s a fantastic game because it can be played solo or co-operatively as a group, or as a competitive game with 2-3 players. It also doesn’t require lots of setting up or a big space to play. We often leave ours out on the table for people to pick up and play at will. The game itself is pretty easy to pick up. You scan and stack the plastic animals one by one on a small plinth and they appear on the app. You score points for each animal you put on but if you neglect them the smaller ones can become extinct. There are various artifacts - basically plastic tokens that will boost your beasts or create new ones. You can play to get a high score or collect different beasts in the app. The game ends when the tower falls down so takes a bit of dexterity too!As you get more experienced you learn how to use the artifacts strategically to boost your score. There is also a battles mode where you can play against each other which adds another level of challenge.Overall this is a beautifully designed and very unique game perfect for teens but great for adults too. There are add-ons available if you want to further extend it including cards to enhance the battles mode and extra beasts. We bought them all in the end as we love the game and play it so much! The only thing I don’t like as that the app can only be used to connect one device at a time so if you are playing on a phone with several people you all have to crowd round one small screen. It would be better if you could connect more devices with just a “viewing mode” but this is a minor quibble about an otherwise brilliant game.

Kids love it
Very hard to know what score to give this product. My son asked for it as a Christmas gift. It’s quite expensive for what it is. To make it really usable you need to buy the add ons. So far we’ve spent about £50 on additional animals and cards etc. I’ve played it and find it quite dull, but the kids love it now we have the add on pieces

Great game. Too bad they don’t make it anymore.
The media could not be loaded. Beautiful game. Great quality materials and beautiful design. It helps kids develop their understanding of shapes, balance, spatial awareness, maths, survival of the fittest, and ecosystems. And the graphics and the names of the creatures are very imaginative. My issues are:1. The bluetooth connection can be a bit glitchy the first few times.2. The game is out of production and accessories and add-ons are very hard to find and expensive.3. Some of the creatures in the bestiary may never be created because there’s no way to use all the pieces in a game. For that you need the add-on creatures that are no longer available to buy.4. Some of the instructions for the special artefacts are hard to understand, let alone follow. Like ‘push until sun disappears’ or stuff like that. Push what, where, when?

Intriguing but orgiginal creators have ceased trading
I bought this a Christmas present for my son. We have both enjoyed playing it and I look forward to playing some more. A major caution, however, is that the company who created it have now been taken over by Niantic (the creators Pokémon GO!). The BeastsOfBalance web site has been shutdown and there is no mention of the game on the Niantic web site. I have some concern that the app which you must use in conjunction with the game will at some point stop working, rendering the entire game useless. You don't seem to be able to but any of the add-on beasts anywhere now either. It's a great game but a big risk buying. I would not have bought it if I had known the company who created it had ceased trading.

The future of board games
Brilliant gameMy mother-in-law bought this game for our 6.5 yo son but it was us who ended up playing it for hours. This game is connected via an app to a tablet or a phone (also updated to Iphone X).The whole idea is to stack different animals and combine the elements and help the animals evolveGreat team effort and lots of fun in a nutshell - wasnt convinced before playing but I can honestly say it is one of the better executed games in a while

Tremendous fun for all the family
This game has been a BIG hit with my little family of gamers. It ticks a lot of boxes - it can be played co-operative so there's no sibling arguments over who's won, it integrates the iPad lovely so I can blag it as screen time but for the whole family, and it's a tremendous laugh to play together. The sale price makes it an incredible bargain - I've had my eye on the game for a while but considered it a bit over-priced - now it's dropped down below what I would be willing to pay for it.The only disappointment is that we love so much we want to start picking up the expansions, but seem to only be able to find them on the secondary market where the price of the expansions are triple the base set! Please get some more expansions made - we're desperate to try a Unicorn and a Dragon out!For some context - I'm a Dad playing this game with a 5 yr old and an 8 yr old on rainy weekends.

Excellent game, hours and hours of fun.
We bought this wonderful game after trying it out at Greenbelt festival. It doesn't disappoint. We have played games with people from 5-70 and all have enjoyed it. The idea of the game and pieces is straightforward enough that a 5yr old could explain it to grandparents who rarely use technology. The game play seems limited before you try it but once you get going you see that there are so many options and so many ways the game could go. We have played for hours and we are still discovering new combinations of animals and unlocking achievements.Excellent for younger children to practice motor skills with the balancing and for older ones to practice planning to get the best score possible. The battle game is great fun too although we have only played it with the base set items. We tend to play the coop game more often but when you have a group of adults playing it adds a fun competition element.I hope in the future we will be able to buy some more of the animals and extra content. I can see this being a favourite for many years!
