Manfrotto MPCOMPACT-BK Compact Xtreme 2-in-1 Monopod and Pole, Black

I know taking photographs using a tripod is best, but a Monopod is a very good compromise. I've used it with a Canon compact camera and the results (compared with hand holding) are vastly better. Compacts with a viewscreen but no viewfinder are very difficult to hold steady. The monopod makes this dead easy, and the quality of my photos is greatly improved. The Manfrotto device is light, well made, and very quick to asemble and use. Very pleased...

I'm 5f 11 standing up & this monopod when fully extended with a Camera attached is exactly the right height - so if you are over 6ft tall & NOT using a Ball Head attachment it may be a bit on the short side. That said !!! if you're not going to be using it standing up all is fine... The usual great Manfrotto Quality on this item, very comfortable hand grip- left or right! - quick to attach and release, though I also use a Ball Head mount & removable plate ( so I'm not having to tilt the pole over too far ). please observe the max weight advice for this item~~~ & the hand strap is there for a reason !!!

This is a budget item from a reputable maker, but for all that, it does a good job, steadying the camera in use. It’s easy to set up the legs to any length and once they are set, they feel secure. Because it doesn’t have the quick release plate that higher priced monopods come with, unscrewing the camera from the top between shots can be a bit of a nuisance and eventually could put stress on the threads of the mounting screw. I have a tripod with a quick release plate and it makes life easier. I still have to work out the best way for me to carry it with the camera attached. I wouldn’t recommend trying to use this as an ancilliary walking pole, with or without the camera attached. The bottom section is not sturdy enough.

It's strong, and it works. Does what it says. Good strong cam locks. Strong profile. Light. Short enough to stow in your carry on luggage. Just what I needed for those short getaways.

I have some good tripods but have never used a monopod before, so I bought this to use with my Panasonic GH5 to take shots in 4k at a circus in confined surrounding with a 14 - 140 (fairly extreme) zoom lens. After a bit of practice I got used to holding it steady and placing in on the ground in a position that allowed me to tilt back and follow acrobats up to the top of the tent. Results were very steady, though it's lateral movement that is hardest to keep steady and I wonder whether I should make a fold-out arm to give better control of twisting motion. The main thing is that it's compact to carry in my camera back when collapsed, and quick to lock solidly. A useful addition which I should probably have had long ago!

I'm happy with this monopod. It's light enough to carry around and sturdy enough to be useful! It extends tall enough for anything I would expect to be using it for and packs away nice and small so I don't feel daft carrying it around. My only gripe is that the process of extending the leg is a bit clunky and not as smooth as I'd like but at this price-point I'm nit-picking. The wheel to attach a camera is easy to use and the grip is ergonomic. I would recommend this product.

So as anyone who works with cameras knows it's always best to use a tripod for better results, but it is really inconvenient carry one round and setting one up to get a quick shot. This monopod is a perfect middle ground making it easy to take around but gives you a much steadier grip when out and about.Pros- Lightweight- Classic Manfrotto build quality- Portable and convenient- Extended 5 year warranty if you register with Manfrotto. YES, 5 YEARS!Cons- Doesn't give you as good results as a tripod, but that's fairly obvious.I'm astounded that you get the same Manfrotto quality and convenience, with a 5 year warranty, for £15. It's an essential for any photographer or videographer and because of the price there's no excuse!

I watched several video reviews online before buying it. The build is indeed sturdy. Extension length fits most of the shooting needs. I'm quite happy with the product. A kudos to the support where they handle shipment issue very very well. A great seller who I can trust.
