First off, as noted the gold plating on the connector shell is irrelevant to signal quality since Toslink is an optical connection, not electrical. That said it does look pretty and maybe it makes the connector fit better I dunno... I'm using these to connect Behringer S16 stage boxes to A/D converters in a live sound set up using ADAT, 8 channels of 48k digital audio and they work well. The metal connector shells fit more positively into the sockets and have less tendency to fall out when bumping about in the back of the van which is helpful, short length helps keep things tidy. Good quality construction, heavy braid on the optical fiber stops it getting bent and breaking and the shells are nice heavy duty aluminium. A decent quality cable for less than 6 quid is a bargain and if they insist on gold plating the things for no good reason then I'm not going to argue

I nearly didn't buy these due to the promotion of gold plating providing better conductivity and the nylon braid preventing electrical interference, neither of which are applicable to fibre optic connections. I went with these in the end due to the shorter length available (0.5m). The cables are very well made and give a nice look if you have them visible. The nylon braid is actually helpful in providing some rigidity to make cable management easier. It does still give a slight bend which is beneficial for fibre optic cable capability. The ends fit snugly into my games console, TV and sound bar and whilst larger than the ends of some fibre optic cables, all fit into a 4 to 1 toslink splitter I have.

Good cable.. Got this for a replacement to the cheap thin one that came with my astro a50 gaming headset. Looks better sits better behind base station to headset and is at least as good if not a little better sounding. Great value at this price for a tos link cable used in something less demanding item like a surround amp. Highly recommended

Good quality cable & the braiding helps to prevent it getting bent or kinked when installing, the gold plating adds no benefit to the sound quality, I've used other higher priced optical cables in the past & can there really isn't any difference between them & this cheaper version, well worth the price.

OK - it is just a digital connection, but it is very well made with some nice finishing touches and was well priced. And it does its job extremely well. Not much more to say - all good and what's not to like!!

Far too short! My mistake!

Really good value. Phono connection plugs a bit loose as not totally fitting tightly as other brands. Easily adjusted with excellent results.Karl O'Neill. [email protected]
