Great book which is the 2nd book of 2 in a historical romance set in Revolutionary War torn America
This book follows closely after the first book, The Forbidden Lady. I don't usually read historical romances from America, nor those from the Revolutionary War, but I had just finished the Love at Stake series, which I had loved, and decided to give these a whirl. I was happy that I did. I enjoyed these books immensely. The characters were well-drawn and engaging. The storyline kept moving and kept me totally enthralled. I liked learning and reading about a time in American history that I don't often think about. I especially liked how both sides were presented reasonably. The enemy were not ALL horrible. It also shows a little bit about the British supporters and how they thought.I will be honest. I read this book awhile ago and have read many others since then, so a lot of the details aren't coming to mind. But what I do remember vividly is how surprisingly interesting I found it to be reading an American historical romance and thoroughly enjoying it totally. Especially when I tend to read the traditional British Regency and Victorian romances. Try this and see what you think, and for a totally different taste from Kerrelyn Sparks, try her Love at Stakes series, which is a paranormal romance series with vampires and all sorts of beast changers.

Historical Series Book Two
Less Than a Gentleman by Kerrelyn SparksHistorical Series Book TwoMatthias Murray Thomas has a lot on his shoulders. Fighting for freedom with a price on his head, protecting his mother and his plantation and now he has a fiery redhead who does not take orders...at all. And she thinks he’s a butler.Caroline Munro has been through a lot in her life so far. Now at twenty-six it has fallen on her shoulders to protect her very pregnant sister and her niece and nephew. The war rages on as the redcoats invade more territory and take what they want. If she has to pretend to be someone else for them to have food and shelter in the huge plantation home, that is what she’ll do.This story is full of adventure, danger and romance. The truth of the war brings sadness, but in her usual way the author brings humor into the story. We first met Caroline in the first book The Forbidden Lady, as a young fifteen year old who had a loose tongue at the worst times. She may be older, but her tongue is still a bit out of control. The excellent story telling from Kerrelyn’s Love at Stake series is continued in both historical books.**Sexual contenthttp://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/2011/08/love-at-stake-series-by-kerrelyn-spakrs.html

Such a charming and funny love story
What a great story of love and war. it's set in the late 1700's and Kerrelyn Sparks does a great job of creating a wonderful story about the fight for freedom adding such charismatic characters. Matthias is fighting for freedom and stays away from his home because his mother is constantly matchmaking to find him a wife. He is too busy with the war for a wife plus all the women are interested in is his plantation and money. Caroline and her pregnant sister along with her sister's two small children are a casualty of the war and on the move trying to find their father. They happen along the home of Matthias mother and seek shelter. Ms. Jane takes them at first thinking Caroline was someone she had sent for as a bride for Matthias. Caroline plays along at first for shelter and safety for her sister and the children. The story is funny...charming and has danger because of the war. I really enjoyed the relationship between Caroline and Matthias and how they did what they had to to protect the ones they love. I love Kerrelyn Sparks and even though this is completely different from what I normally read of hers but what she did with this story was amazing. Highly recommend.

Less Than A Gentleman
Matthias Thomas is a colonial fighting against the English; when he is able to return to his home for a short visit, he finds that his mother has taken in two young women and two children. One of the women has given a false identity. Matt's mother had initially believed the woman to be Agatha Ludlow, a woman that she had invited there with the intention of getting her son to marry. With a pregnant sister, soon to deliver, and her niece and nephew in tow, no place to live and fleeing the war, Virginia Munro goes along with the new identity. At least until Matt comes home; he immediately knows that the woman is not Agatha as he met Agatha previously. When he confronts his mother, she tells him that she has already discovered that fact, but she likes Virginia and knows that she needs assistance; besides she notes her son's interest in Virginia and thinks that she just might be the right woman for her son.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every single one of her books! I love the Love At Stake series but I must say that I love her revolutionary war books too! I wish she would write more of them! :)

Great historical romance!
I really enjoyed the fact that this novel took place in America during the Revolutionary War. It reminded me very much of "The Patriot", the movie with Mel Gibson. Kerrelyn Sparks is one of my favorite writers, and I enjoy all of her books. This one had some nice plot twists, and there was a connection in this book to others that she has written. I love when the characters of one book are connected to the characters in another book. This was an enjoyable read, comical, yet sexy.

What can you say! It is a Kerrelyn Sparks book.. I do favor the vampire series, but this was an excellent story.Still the strong woman, I have a tough time with the Historical era where women are treated as less than. This was notso bad. Again it is a Kerrelyn book how could you go wrong!

Typical Kerrelyn Sparks!!
I love her vampire series, and when I saw this book, I was excited about reading Kerrelyn Sparks in another genre. I was not disappointed. She has a nak for combining dramatic senses with a little comedy. Great historic romantic novel.
