It requires your viewing app to allow your eyes to see your phone close up.Try putting your mobile on the end of your nose and see if you can focus or read it.Yes I may be dismissed a magnifying device but it integrates you vision, focuses at close range, holds the device securely, blocks other light, is lightweight and comfortable and adjustable.It is fit for purpose and does what it says in the description.I have an equivalent UK model and it works as described.I'm not sure what was expected by some reviewers....
