The Dark Knight: Batman HD Masterpiece Action Figure

Needless to say, i'm very surprised that there isn't a single review on here for this amazing figure. Well, i'm honored to be the first and i'm pleased to tell anybody who is seriously looking to purchase this collectible that your money will be well spent. If you're a fan of Batman, Chris Nolans Dark Knight trilogy, or just the Batman Begins suit in general; fear not. There is NOTHING else currently like this on the market. Aside from sculptures which offer no articulation, posing options, or accessories. Hot Toys is obviously the 2nd best thing. They do great work but with the majority of their offerings in 1/6 scale, nothing that they do Batman related measures up to Enterbay's efforts. The packaging is nothing to write home about. A styrofoam box that has the Dark Knight and HD Masterpiece ethched into it. No picutres. Just the box. That doesn't matter though. It's what's on the inside that counts. There are instructions that show you how to apply the cape and the makeup of the figures utility belt. There's also a paper that isn't in english so I couldn't tell you what it is or says. Ultimately it doesn't hinder your ability to enjoy the figure. There are a total of four head sculpts with 3 interchangable mouthpieces. The three sculpts are with the eyes looking left, right, and forward. The three mouthpieces are calm/relaxed, angry/agitated, and mouth open/talking. The last headsculpt is of Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale). The Batman headsculpts are bar none the best in the business. This is Batman. That is a miniature version of Christian Bale under the cowl. The detail is better off seen rather than explained. They're just unbelievable. The Bale sculpt is very good but there is something about it that I can't put my finger on. It's a great representation of him as Bruce Wayne but it's missing that "wow factor" that the Batman sculpts offer. It's close. Very close. Just not quite the showstopper that the cowls are. On the other hand, the figure itself is made of some kind of high quality rubber material. It's rather big at 18.5". Hopefully you understand that prior to making your purchase. It comes with numerous accessories such as his grapple gun, batarangs, and mines. There are a few others and it's basically anything he used in Batman Begins and the very beginning of The Dark Knight. Enterbay left no stone unturned with the accessories. The important thing is that there are many to choose from and he is able to hold and be posed with all of them in some capacity. One thing I will say is that the base he comes with is rather basic in nature. Which I actually like. It's not so extravagant that it takes away from the incredible figure. It's there and it serves it's purpose well. I was impressed by the piece of the base that will hold the figure. It's sturdy, adjustable, and it stays hidden despite being in plain sight. Definitely something that Enterbay pulled off seamlessly while only adding to the figure without taking away from it.The bad qualities about this figure are merely personal opinion. What you may consider bad and what I consider bad likely could be different. However, i'll state them now. The belt that he comes with seems to be rather durable. It's not going to break just by touching it. It's there and can house most of Batmans various accessories via magnets. The problem is that it positions around his stomach. Not his waist where it should be. I'm a pretty big Batman and Chris Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy fanatic. It's very annoying to have such a masterpiece fall short simply because of a design flaw. Regardless of it if was due to ignorance or sheer laziness it certainly takes away from what would've otherwise been the total package. After doing a few modifications and removing key parts of the foam on the outside of the inner body, the belt no longer sits at his stomach but instead fits around his waist. The other problem is the placement of the magnets for the cape. They just aren't in the proper position. Again, regardless of if it was a design flaw, lack of knowledge, or little effort, it's only taking away from the big picture. The magnets are CLOSE to where they should be. Just not quite there on the stock figure. Again, a simple modification changes that and you've got a brand new figure. Maybe you'll be the type who isn't annoyed by the belt being more of a girdle than anything and the magnets being out of position for the offical placement of the cape. If you aren't bothered by those then as soon as you take the figure out of the box you will be more than happy with it. For those who want perfection and realize it's just a few steps away, it is possible to achieve.The bottom line is that the figure really is a masterpiece as stated on the underwhelming box. It's got all of the intangibles you'd want in a Batman collectible. With the minor changes I made to mine I went from slightly satisified to uncontrollably joyous. It really has to be seen to believed. If you want the best version of Batman available in figure form, this is the one. Enterbay, although not perfect out of the box still deserves their kudos. It's a one of a kind piece that every collector and serious fan should own. It is the definitive Batman for collectors and fans. Aside from my minor gripes, the price tag on this guy is a bit of a bargain because you really are getting a museum qaulity figure.
