Precision, size matters
I have been struggling with soldering details and small stuff on pcb's. My current iron left in pic is pretty basic it works but it doesn't seem to constantly hold the temps I need and takes a long time to stabilize at all. I was looking at the less expensive yihua 948 ii(I think) and a couple other models that had heaters in the ends hoping for better quality and consistency. Decided to spend a little more and go with the 982 and im glad I did the quality is top notch and you can see in the picture how much smaller the tip is. I couldn't tell size from the pictures in the ad bit these are clearly going to be more precise and easier to get the heat where I want it without heating everything around it. I hope the pic helps someone else with thier decision.

Heats Extremely Rapidly and Provides Precise Solder Control
This is an excellent soldering iron for surface mount and through hole soldering needs. It maybe a bit small for larger solder projects but it has improved my soldering technique on SMD and through hole soldering. Exchanging of tips is also very easy with this solder station. I like that it rapidly cools the iron when placed back in the holder. When you go to use the iron again it comes up to temperature in several seconds.

Good soldering station, could be better
I needed to do some soldering recently, and I decided it was time to upgrade my ancient Radio Shack pencil iron. After looking at a variety of options, this one looked the most appealing due to the use of cartridge tips, range of adjustments, sleep mode, and overall form factor. In practice it's a good station and definitely an upgrade over the old pencil iron, but has some issues. From a user experience standpoint, it displays inscrutable error messages and the skimpy manual included with it does not provide any help about those error messages. Initially I was not fully pressing the cartridge tip into the handle. The error on the display gave me no indication that was the issue, but eventually I decided to press harder and the problem was solved. In practice I find the two pointed tips to be too fine for the through-hole soldering I'm doing, but the chisel tip is too big. Or perhaps the issue is that the chisel tip doesn't heat well on its tip, so I'm forced to use the broad edge and end up touching things I don't want to.After just a few uses, the hooked tip stopped working. Again, the station displays an error message that doesn't really help. The only thing I can say is it doesn't display the error when the other two tips are used, so I must conclude that something went wrong with the hooked tip cartridge. The included solder roll holder is okay, but oddly there is only one mounting hole on the station, so you have to tighten that one screw down pretty tight to keep it from moving around. On the positive side, I do like that the temperature is easy to set and that the four buttons provide easy access to preset temperatures. The pencil holder works well, and the integrated sponge and steel wool holders are handy. The tip seems to come up to temperature quickly, although I don't have a objective way to test that.Overall I think it's a good soldering station at the price, but it could definitely benefit from some improvements.

Curved tip catastrophe
I enjoyed the hour or so of use that I got from this station. Two bad (not a typo) I had TWO different ones, and both of the curved tips broke before use. Not sure why.I thought about buying it separately but I figured that if I’m paying for the full thing, I want the full thing to work. I’m just going to purchase a different soldering station.

SMD Soldering Station
Great for SMD work, small curved tip is the best!

Decent iron but, it’s very small for SMD ONLY
The size was a bit shocking. I was expecting the same size as a JDC but this was smaller and very lightweight. The handle heated up the tips quite quickly but the tips are very small themselves so it’s not really saying much. They do appear to be very good for SMD and other small work but I mistakenly thought the tips were larger (C245/T15 size, not C210).
