A cordless iron...brilliant!
I have used this iron for a couple of weeks now. It was a replacement for my previous cordless iron, also a Phillips product. That had lasted for about ten years and survived being dropped. I have found it a big improvement on my old iron. It is much lighter and it is easier to fill the water reservoir than my old iron but it still has all the advantages of a cordless iron.I read many comments before I purchased this iron about the iron's ready light, and the delays it causes. I think it's one of those features which is best ignored. If you just use the iron as you normally would it seems to give good results whether the iron is officially 'ready' or not.The only negative point I would mention is the stability of the iron when it is on the base. Because it is lighter and also, I think, because it is placed on the base in a very upright position it doesn't always feel that safe and secure on its base. I would be extra careful if a young child was around while I was using it but that's my only caveat. Otherwise it is an excellent iron and very easy to use.

Great iron but still doesn't make ironing a bra any easier!!!
We purchased this iron as our old one was utter rubbish, not enough weight to press clothes flat, scaled up, and melted anything it touched to the base which would then transfer to anything else we ironed. Also with a child about to start school we thought it would be bad form to send her looking creased and dishevelled!!!Having put this through its' paces over the last month or so both my wife and I have decided that this is an excellent iron and perfectly suited to a family of three. It gets hot quickly so you can get rid of those last minute creases you missed as you are about to walk out of the door!! I was initially concerned it may not get hot enough to iron cotton kitchen whites after being on a 95 degree wash on a 1400 spin; however as usual - I was wrong!! It is simple to use - and seeing as I can use it - it should be rightly classified as idiot-proof. There are no concerns about it 'running out of heat' as you use it; iron for a bit, plonk it back on the base as you adjust your garment and is hot enough for the next go.My mother came round and laughed at me doing some ironing one evening and was astounded at the results I was getting from a lightweight cordless iron. (You need to bear in mind the last cordless iron she used was made from solid cast-iron heated on the fires of Mount Doom, I believe she took her ironing there on the back of a dinosaur!!!) She has since nagged dad into getting her one.Phillips got this right, not too heavy, simple to clean, simple to use and above all as safe as a hot iron can be. If Phillips want to send me any freebies to try out, abuse and review they are more than welcome.

Perfect…for beginners
I guess every product has a context - and this is a perfect iron for a beginner/occasional `ironer'. Light and very manoeuvrable because of it being cordless. In terms of ironing quality it is almost as good as my expensive Bosch which did not last as long as its price would demand. For the experienced ironer however, this iron slows things down - mainly because the charge lasts for a very short time before it needs to be returned to base. Basically I can iron faster than the iron allows me to. I think it would be perfect for my son when he goes to college.

Great iron. Works as well as a corded iron but without the tangle.
I think this iron is really good. Now I can iron without the cord catching continuously on the top of the ironing board and getting in the way while I iron. It’s much easier. I read other people’s reviews prior to buying saying it cools down too quickly but I haven’t noticed this at all. It seems to work just as well as my old corded iron. It is lightweight, easy to fill straight under the tap, locates easily on the base (I thought this might be heavy to lift on the base each time or fiddly to locate the charging pins but it seems to slide on and locate itself every time quite easily).Only downside is the length of the cord to the base which limits where you can set up your ironing board. The locking mechanism on the base is also handy as you can wrap the cord around the base when you’re done and the locking mechanism joins the base and the iron up together so it can be easily carried.I would buy this again.

I've given up on this
I prefer cordless irons and there are not many around these days so I bought this. It heats up quickly and has a good indicator as to when it needs heating up. Generally it irons clothes well but I am ditching it because I am fed up with ironing sheets with it. It is not hot enough to iron out the creases, damp or dry so it takes 2 or 3 attempts at one section of sheet and it still looks as if it hasn't been ironed. Now it has started spitting out brown water so is probably rusty inside and my clean sheets end up dirty with brown spots on them. It is going in the bin!

Buy it - its great.
This is my wifes review...... Buy it!! Really just buy it. I deliberated and got one of those from JML, which was disappointing and has now stopped working. So I went back to this. It is fabulous! Tonight whilst ironing I realised that I can leave the shirt in position and walk to the end of ironing board and do the shoulders without readjusting. It has great steam and I like the fact you can see how much water is in the tank, a lot of the others you can't. It has a lock on the base so when you want to put it away you don't have to wait for the iron to cool just put the iron to one side and wrap the cord around, secure, put the iron back on and move it to the locked position - ready to store. A lot of the other reviews said it did not give you time to iron, wrong, plenty of time to iron the side of a shirt (generally you would stand the iron back up, this is all you are doing but just on the stand). Brilliant piece of kit. Just have to see how long this one lasts - I have broken two russell hobb in two years already, so decided not to go for them - the tank just leaks and splits.
