In my opinion, it is a shame that this even has to exist, but the fact that it does helped get my *very expensive* smoker back up and running in a pinch.First, my biggest grievance is not with this particular control board, but with Pit Boss smokers overall. After years of using a cheap, gas powered locker-style smoker (which is still a work horse), I decided to invest in a top-of-the-line Pit Boss smoker. Sadly, despite keeping the smoker covered, cleaned, and well maintained, it has broken down every year that I have owned it.Generally, it has been the igniter that has failed, but this year - after replacing a failed igniter - the control board failed right before Thanksgiving when we had planned to smoke a turkey for the big meal.Fortunately, I was able to get this replacement control board which, to my eyes, looks identical to the OEM control board replacement from Pit Boss.Installation is a pain as you have to remove the chimney, pellet bracket, door, racks, rack holders, water tray, and flame guard before you flip the whole smoker upside down and unscrew the various housings holding the board in place. Once you've done this, however, installation is relatively easy. The cable connections are keyed and color-coded, so it's hard (if not impossible) to mix them up. Pit Boss has videos online to walk you through the process. Most important part is to plug in your smoker and test it before you flip it back over. Again, the connections are simple, so you'll quickly see if you got one wrong or if there is an issue.For me, this kit worked great. It installed and worked exactly as expected and got me up-and-running just in time to smoke the big bird. I also appreciate that the kit comes with every part you might possibly need. I had just replaced the igniter, so I am happy to have a spare when that one inevitably fails. I'm also happy to have and extra thermometer and temperature probes.I'm not expecting this unit to outperform the OEM control board as I think it is a design flaw of the Pit Boss smokers to place the control board directly under the fire pot and drip tray (it should be side mounted away from direct heat and liquids), but I well enjoy it while it works and I am happy to know I can grab a replacement in the future if I need it.

Easy to install but After install the item did not work, it kept tripping my breaker which never occurred with the original. I will be returning the item.

Many reviewers have stated that this Digital Control Panel is a direct drop in replacement for the listed grills. That drop in replacement ability is very good for those end users. I am not going to use it for that purpose. I am an electronics wizard, and DIY guy, and I bought this LED digital display control panel for building my own DIY pellet smoker. This product is quite a complicated computer brain control system. If you are an electronics wizard, you know the terms PID controller and Hysteresis (the dependence of the state of a system on its history) so you know building your own DIY pellet smoker will be a fun project. Preliminary examination shows this control board to be very high quality, indeed, with better quality components. This is a very complicated PID with High Quality control design and manufacturing.

While this is an expensive item that costs almost a hundred bucks, it's well worth it for a person who has invested $600 into an expensive smoker. So when my unit stopped responding to temperature controls, I was thankful to find this.It is a pain in the butt to install, so make sure you have a good chunk of free time and are willing to do the work. If you aren't willing to change the oil in your car, then you won't want to install this device. But if you're ready to put in about an hour to get your smoker back up and running, you can find videos online that guide you through the process.

Works fine on my pitboss only issue is temp knob is hard to turn don't know how long it is going to last.

This installed well and replaced basically every component in my smoker aside from the fan and auger. I was super excited to see my smoker working again. I have been getting multiple error codes with this unit which is very frustrating. I’m not sure if my unit is defective or if this is typical of this product.Edit: after a few months the screen has gone bad. This smoker sits under a cover porch and is not subjected to bad weather.I have a hard time recommending this product.
