Still worth every penny but... UPDATE: issues when using the paper filters
Not the most fancy or expensive espresso machine you can get but for the money - really very good indeed! As expected from Dualit, has a really well-made and functional look to it and most importantly, it makes excellent espresso!UPDATE: Have had this a couple of months now and I am still very pleased with it. I found however that it began to struggle forcing coffee through the filter and after quite a bit of troubleshooting, found it to be due to the paper filters that Dualit provide and advise you to use.I was using genuine Dualit papers and I am wondering if I had a bad batch that were perhaps thicker than they should have been (I did check to make sure I wasn't accidentally using two at a time). Anyhow, I have stopped using the papers (I think they are a bit overkill to be honest) and everything works fine. I am also comfortable that with regular rinsing of the filter and monthly cleaning of the machine all will be well.

Read this before buying
So, this is my second one of these. I will not be buying another.Good points. Looks nice. Makes nice coffee (pretty good once you get used to working it). Has steamer. Can use pods, ground, or filter pods. So, that's the good bits and the read I bought another. Now, the fatal flaws. This machine is very poorly designed. Primarily, a consumable item, the filter cup seal has to be replaced occasionally. There is a screen to remove a screen you need to undo in order to accomplish this. After a few months of use, it is fast. You cannot undo it. I have had the same fault with both machines. The screw head is soft so will strip with recessive torque. This has happened to me on both machines. Renders the machine useless. On this last one, I was determined to NOT strip the screw. In order to get a decent hammer screwdriver under it, you need to strip it to remove the base (something a normal person would probably not attempt!). On doing so, I find the whole thing really badly corroded. It's obviously been leaking inside for some time.Anyway - My point. Due to the design, these things are throwaway after about 1 year of regular use. That makes them super expensive! I can't afford a third!

Great...very pleased.
Gave this purchase a lot of thought after the Nesspresso started leaking. Seriously considered the SMEG but wanted to support a UK company and have had a Dualit toaster for years. The ability to use Nesspresso pods was a positive so we could us the old stock up. It was a risk as the SMEG which over £100 more was highly rated online. We have had it a week and so far we are not disappointed. Quality is great and matches the toaster. Stainless and cast aluminium, limited plastic on the body other than the water container. Handles of the coffee holders bare plastic and could be a bit better, but that is being picky. Quality of the coffee is excellent, though it is more of a faff than the old Nesspresso machine ( takes the to make a coffee, but like vinyl vs CD...worth it). We have been using the ESE coffee bags which are quite convenient and no plastic or aluminium pods to deal with. The real surprise and bonus was the packaging...no polystyrene!! Hurrah. All cardboard other the plastic bags. Recommend. Really very pleased, as is my wife. 👍😁

The worst coffee machine for using ground coffee
I bought this machine almost a year ago. together with matching toaster and kettle. I knew that Dualit has excellent toaster and kettles, and I trusted the brand for coffee machine and didn't read any reviews beforehand, and that turned out to be a big mistake.Never used pods, but it's good if you only use capsule, and that would be limited to NX capsules made by Dualit itself. The moment you start using ground coffee, it gets terrible. The machine's pressure is not enough to empty all the water at the end, hence the filter remains filled with water on top of the used ground coffee.I tried every coffee, from corse to fine, and both with and without paper filters, but the result is always the same. I sent it to be checked by the company, and it came back saying "we found no fault", without even addressing my problem. I called them back, and i was told by the customer service that this is how our machines work!! Literally I was told I have to live with it as it's how their machines work! So, if you want a machine to use with capsules, get any of the Nespresso compatible machines, as this one is just a waste of money. Making coffee from ground it too messy and too much of a hassle that you might as well give it up! If you want a manual espresso machine that works well with the ground coffee, and the same price range, go for Delunghi, which is is similar to this (no capsule) but it makes perfect espresso from ground.

Nice little package
I owned a previous 2014 Dualit Espressivo model which served me well for 7 years. This model is as good as the last one so far:- quite a few tools come with the machine as standard, so all sorts of coffees and capsules can be used. It can even do tea.- nice and efficient froth nozzle- good pressure- large water tank- an improvement over the last model is the guiding "wall" behind the brew head, which allows the filter holders to placed more precisely without having to lookMinor "negatives":- this model no longer has a movable accessory holder that could be attached to the rail on the top of the machine and held unused filters or froth head so they can be reached quickly if needed- it is ever so slightly noisier than the previous model, but this is barely noticeable after a few uses.Would recommend this product, let's hope it lasts as long as the last version.
