I love them.
They are great for thick hair. I have been using them for years. The one I usually use daily fell apart due to use and age. Normal wear and tear.I pulled a brand new unused but older spare out of my closet to replace it.It fell apart the first time I used it. Of course it was a spare that I kept unused in case I needed an immediate replacement. They do wear out as everything else does eventually but the new one that fell apart was never used, ever! This was the first time I have had this happen. They are usually very sturdy. So, I am not sure if the manufacturing/quality changed or if this was simply a result of the plastic being a little old...an anomaly.I had to order this replacement. Time will tell if the newest one holds up. So far so good. I do like these A LOT so I hope that it is a okay. I do recommend them as up to this point they have been sturdy, strong, and great for my thick head of hair.

For thick hair this is a wonder - It stays where you put it
I used to only be able to get these at the Sally's beauty stores and was very worried when they were not carrying them anymore.I would buy 2 of them and use them regularly for over 5 years and then buy 2 more. I was overjoyed to find the on Amazon and was worried that they might not be as good as the old one's.Not only are they as good they were a bit less expensive. I wear them daily and I have very thick long hair that falls out of most everything else. This holds the hair firmly enough that it is easy (30 seconds) to style your hair up without being too tight to your scalp.I roll my hair from the back like a french roll, fold it over on itself and loosen the hair so it is flattering around the face, put the clip in and it is good like that all day.You can use it to take some or all of your hair up and it stays.

Wirecutter reviews? Oh well...
I have long hair. I have thinnish hair. I have straight hair. I come home from work and I put all my hair up in a clip, and sleep with it up as well. Harmony was my go to for years for the best large clips that lasted for years. I recently saw NYT Wirecutter did reviews and this was their top clip. Not so much for me. A little too big, points on claw grab awkwardly as they slant out at the tip, and then the clip doesn't sit well against my head. It is well made. The spring seems well made and seated strongly in the clip. The plastic is somewhat flexible, which is also a sign it will last. I kept mine, but it's a backup only, and that's a shame. I miss Harmons!!
