Ronseal NRSMBL250 250ml No Rust Metal Paint - Smooth Black

Used to repaint an old metal farm 8ft type gate. It has gone on easily and covered well. I wasn't sure how far it would go. This size tin dis a little over half the gate, so ordered another two this size to finish the other half and then do a second coat. It did seem to get thicker in the tin as I worked, so better to buy the smaller tins and open as needed. There wasn't a great difference in price doing it this way. Is glossy, and I want to apply a second coat but will need to do it on a dull day. Used a cheap brush to throw away. Wear gloves!

I cannot give a long term review on this paint yet, but it seems to do its job well. Not an easy paint to apply as it is very thick and skins over quickly (an advantage in some cases). Try not to over brush and keep a wet edge. If you are painting something like a square metal gate post paint one face at a time (top to bottom) and then work your way around the remaining faces. The paint leaves a nice high gloss finish - a good match for epoxy coatings.The only problem I had was cleaning up afterwards. The instructions recommend using a proprietary brush cleaner. At the time I did not have any and soon discovered that Turpentine Substitute or White Spirt did not work at all. I ended up throwing the brush away. Make sure you have some brush cleaner/restorer handy before you start!

I am not sure about this item; either I did something wrong, or it just isn't that good. My reasons for that comment? Well, having cleaned off all the visible rust from the garden chimenea (to which I was applying this) with a wire brush,and applying generously my initial thoughts were a job well done. However, a few days later and I could not believe my eyes; rust spots were starting to emerge. So, I painted it again...and the same thing happened after another few days. To look at my chimenea now, you would not think that I had painted this stuff on it at all. It is now totally covered in rust. Based on my experience I will look elsewhere this summer to paint it.

Perfect sized pot for the job (painting a metal gate) left a great finish and was easy to apply.You will need gloves and a dust sheet as it did drip after a while and I would certainly use in an outside environment as the smell was pretty strong

It may be only a smaall pot but it covers very well.

I painted over a parasol base that was slightly rusty and in need of a make over with this paint. It looks fantastic now!!
