Shock Doctor Ultra Knee Support with Bilateral Hinges

I have grade 2 injuries (serious) to the ACL and PCL on my left knee. I'm waiting for reconstructive surgery. The hospital supplied a Medi M.4s PCL Dynamic Brace (costing hundreds of pounds) which does a fantastic job of ensuring the tibia doesn't move backwards due to the torn PCL. A top product!Although the Medi brace is lightweight and relatively comfortable, it's still hard to wear 24/7. Also, after a while it affects the soft tissues where pressure is applied.I tried a simple, wrap-around neoprene knee support costing £15. As you'd expect it provided almost no forward support for the tibia. A waste of money for my needs.This Shock Doctor Ultra Knee Support (silly name) is pretty good. Obviously nowhere as effective as the Medi brace, but gives support and confidence for moderate walking. I'm too scared of making the damage worse to try anything more ambitious. Definitely better than nothing and can be worn under jeans all day.I needed to restart some kind of cardio exercises after several months away. I can't run right now, and don't enjoy cycling. So I've been wearing this in the pool (front crawl with no leg use). It works fine.It's well thought out and well made. Some reviewers said to go up a size. I measured 2" below the patella as 37cm and got the Large (35-37.5cm). It's very snug and I only just get it on and off, but I wouldn't want to go up a size.

I got an ACL injury. I work as a labourer in the construction sector, moving heavy objects most days. The Shock Doctor brace was my second choice after a German brand, however delivery times were unacceptable as I needed it urgently or I wouldn't be able to work. After 2 months of daily use for 10 hours a day, I can say it's borne the stress very well, is comfortable all day, provides very good support and it has allowed me to start healing my knee injury successfully. It's well made and has not deteriorated yet. It may not be the lowest profile however it fits under baggy work trousers just fine. The articulation is rigid enough but allows for movement without restriction or discomfort. The knee pad is very comfortable all day and keeps the knee straight to allow for recovery. I lift 30 kilo objects for hours a day and carry loads and my knee is able to cope. I recommend this knee brace especially for the price vs quality and features. I followed the advice on sizing and measurement and the brace fit very well. It does not restrict blood flow and does not overtly mark the skin. Well done Shock Doctor.

Expensive but sturdy

Tore my median and anterior cruciate ligaments in a freak skiing accident last year. At the time and during my rehabilitation I feared that might be the end of skiing for me as the damaged knee feels significantly different to the other one. The main problem is that the structure of the knee feels “loose” despite a significant amount of physio and muscle training. Decided to give the Shock Doctor Ultra a try after reading positive reviews and crikey did it deliver. Just got back from a week in the Italian Alps and went skiing every day - the brace is comfortable, breathable, well designed so it can easily be worn under salopettes, and most importantly it gives incredible support which seems to stabilise the whole joint. Not a twinge even after a full day on the slopes. The hinges and cross brace straps really give you confidence that the original injury is being protected. Take care with sizing when ordering as my measurements put me right in the middle of the medium bracket but the brace is a really snug fit. Might be an idea to go up a size as you will still be able to adjust using the straps. I have also started wearing the brace whilst playing tennis and again it just gives you more confidence that the knee will not give way. Overall a great product that works brilliantly.

This Product was bought for a skiing trip. I’ve always had issues with my knee, 10 years after a knee cap reconstruction.This product is great for support and make my knee feel invincible. Nevertheless, there is limited movement and feels very stiff.However, this knee brace is not designed for skiing. The ski boot and knee brace both tighten the leg leaving about 2 inches squeezed from both sides, which caused serious swelling in my upper shin.

Brilliant all round support for the knee. Was bought for someone awaiting a knee operation. It’s helped them manage everyday tasks like dog walking and also because it’s hinged supported knee when driving. Price is higher than a lot of knee supports out there but you do get what you pay for and that’s quality, durability and it works. It’s also easy to keep clean.Advice would be make sure you measure correctly especially if you’re between sizes stated as had to down size.

It's tough as old boots, survives 4 years ( on my second one) of heavy use ( karate) and constant machine washes. Pricey but well worth the money. On a different level to just fabric or neoprene ones . The metal supports make all the difference and the double hinge keeps the movement free.

I twisted my knee last year and damaged my ACL. “Could take 6-9 months” I was told. Oh joy! “Get a decent support” I was also told so I spent £20 on a popular blue one on Amazon and found it did nothing. Except made me sweat! So I manned up and splashed out on this one and yes, within 3 days it started to make my knee a lot more comfortable.Now 2 months later it is a lot better. I still use it daily and it is very comfortable to wear. Getting the right size is important. It has geared metal side supports which work together with the straps to offer excellent support and comfort.If your told to get a knee support please don’t mess around with cheap ones and get this one.So why the missing star if it’s so good? Well, I’m not sure how long it will last. Whilst wearing shorts I was kneeling for about an hour and later noticed the hinge on one of the supports had worn into the honeycombed material cover. Yes I was a bit surprised, and disappointed, but to be honest if I needed a replacement I would buy the same again.

I was very happy with this supporter when it arrived but unfortunately, it was too small for my knee. The material and quality of this product is excellent and it gives enough support and stability. I didn't have a chance to check it breathability because of the small size. Still, I would recommend this product but please take your measurements before ordering so you will get a right fit.

L’ho comprato con un po’ di scetticismo ma sono rimasto strabiliato dalla qualità e dall’efficacia del prodotto. Io gioco a basket con una rottura del crociato posteriore. Consigliatissimo!

Ich habe den Artikel gekauft wegen eines einseitigen, durchgehenden, beim Kampfsport zugezogenen Risses in einem Aussenmeniskus, der Schmerzen, besonders beim Treppensteigen verursacht.Das Produkt ist sehr gut verarbeitet und macht einen sehr robusten und hochwertigen Eindruck. Der Tragekomfort ist hervorragend ; ich trage es seit 3 Tagen (nur tagsüber, aber durchgehend von morgens früh bis zum Zubettgehen) und es fühlt sich angenehm an. Man spürt, dass das Kniegelenk deutlich stabilisiert ist. Der Schmerz hat fast vollständig nachgelassen, ich kann wieder Treppen steigen ohne Schmerzen. Der Effekt hält auch des Nachts an, wenn ich den Schutz abgelegt habe. Insofern bin ich mit dem Kauf sehr zufrieden. Ob es bei anderen Verletzungen als einem Meniskusriss ebenfalls wirksam ist, kann ich natürlich nicht beurteilen, ebensowenig, ob es die Heilung des Risses fördert (ich hoffe es). Bei Meniskusriss und zur Vorbeugung weiterer Verletzungen beim Sport ist der Artikel aber sicherlich sehr zu empfehlen.

Prodotto come da descrizione, acquistato per via di un leggero problema al LCA, premetto che ancora non L'Ho utilizzato per uso sportivo, materiale sembra di buona fattura, veste leggermente stretto quindi se siete a cavallo tra 2 taglie prendete la taglia maggiore, ottima vestibilità, i supporti laterali in metalli sono snodati e permettono i movimenti dell'articolazione ma allo stesso tempo offre una buona rigidità, ginocchiere di lv. 3 quindi massimo livello di "protezione ", aggiornerò la recensione una volta utilizzata effettivamente negli sport.

Size issue tricky otherwise its a very good knee stabiliser even for very demanding sports especially for people with acl injuries.It does what it says... But the size issue is very tricky. It was just about apt the frst two days i used it but now its loose and slides down my knee.My knee measured 14.5" that would mean a L-size and according to the size instructions if u were in the border it was advised to go for the next size. So i went for xl size. But alas it seems now that i may not be able to use it to fullest extent. Hope i could return this and get a l size
