Brilliant results!
I have used another brand in the past very unsuccessfully but heard about Flexi ice and thought I would give it a try. It’s brilliant. A small amount goes a long way. It is very flexible when first out of oven - I removed it from mold and stored it between two sheets of non stick parchment and kept it in a dry environment. By the time I was ready to place on cake it had gone a lot less flexible so was easier to use. I sprayed bottom of cake with a very very fine spray of water ( hardly wetting cake) and placed where I wanted it. Really pleased with this product.

Easy to use
Fantastic product. My first time making lace and with this it was really easy. I made the paste by adding water as per the instructions, gave it a really good mix to ensure all the lumps were removed. I smeared the paste over my lace mat with a palette knife really being careful that I had filled every part of the design. I scraped off the excess gently with a bench scraper and then dried the lace out in the oven. 20 minutes later I had flexible and yet quite strong lace. It was easy and quite satisfying to peel it carefully out of the mat and it came out in one piece with no damage. It has a slight stretch and is not brittle at all. Great product and over all a much quicker and easier process than expected

Lace
Great product, I found it easy to use, leave the mixture in moulds over night ( if you have time ) gives a better finish and texture, easier to handle as well baking in oven gave it a more brittle texture, easy to colour as well as you can see from first picture.

Good product
The truth is I don't know whether it was this product, the quality of the lace mat (purchased separately), or my lack of skill. I followed the instructions carefully, but all of my three attempts at making this were a complete disaster. When you look at the gloopy paste, it is hard to see it as anything edible, but it obviously is. My failures may have absolutely nothing to do with this product, but a combination of things. After my unsuccessful attempts I did have to question whether I really needed edible lace in my life! What I will do is at some point I will try making it again but leaving it to airdry. Then I will review my rating again.18/04/24: I have now had three more attempts at my edible lace. The first one gave me cause for hope as I got at least segments from it that were so pretty and delicate. Second attempt dreadful, tried the oven again and for less time than stated, and it was just brittle and just broke up. So I have air-dried the next one, and it was pretty much perfect. Totally sold now! It is about developing a knack and a feel for it I think, and some people find that much easier to do than others. I certainly like the idea of making it ahead of time, because it has the potential to go horrendously wrong when you are under stress. When you get it right it just looks like a real piece of lace, so detailed and quite exquisite. Definitely go onto the Squires demonstration on You Tube, when hopefully all will become clear. I think it's a fiddly think to do still, but I have improved my score from before. Already put in another order, and glad I stuck with it, rather than just bin it.

... lace mix I have used and I am very happy with it
This is the first type of cake lace mix I have used and I am very happy with it. It is so easy to mix with only water needed. I did add a little extra water as I thought the mixture looked a little thick but it worked really well. One 'batch' from the instructions on the packet made enough to fill my large mat (3 rows of lace) 6 times with a little left over! I dried the lace in the oven and it turned out really well. I have also tried adding colouring to some of the mix which made the lace a bit more brittle so might need to be dried for a little less time but definitely worth experimenting with. Overall really pleased with this product and I would buy it again (but this one will probably last ages!)

brilliant product
I love this stuff. I played for days and once I develop a technique, the delicate icing lace came out well. Keeps supple for ages. I've got some from 8 weeks ago, stored in plastic tub, still flexes. Great for effective ,easy cake decoration. Hides all the blemishes too.Tastes a bit like mild cinder toffee to me.Addition- a few months ago, I found a sealed tub of lacy shapes I’d made in the cupboard after about 3 years. Curiosity made me steam it lightly over a kettle and it became flexible. No intention of eating it but handy for using as a template to try out designs. Then my grandson beat me to it and painted them with glitter for a Christmas card!

Easy to use, weird taste
It was very easy to make up, a lot easier than other cake lace sugars. But the mixture was bubbly which caused the lace to be less fine and it had a strange taste.

Excellent product. Would recommend.
This icing was brilliant. I had never done lace before and the instructions made it so easy. I actually coloured mine so it went a gold colour to match with my design. You don't need much and it goes a very long way. I dried mine in the oven as I was running out of time. I don't think I left it quite long enough as it was still a bit tacky when I took it out but it came out the mat perfectly, survived being sprayed gold and transported before being applied to the cake!! Would definitely recommend.
