Shockingly good
If you've read a Matt Shaw horror book before then you will no doubt already know what to expect, lots of blood, plenty to shock and surprise you and a storyline which keeps you gripped 'til the end, which always seems to come too quickly. If you haven't read a Matt Shaw horror story before then be warned, this won't ease you in gently, prepare to feel violated, definitely not for the weak hearted. Another five-star story from a very talented author.

God for it, a good read
A good read, if you like blood guts and gore this is definitely for you, I found the story was ok, character development was good but it's a typical weirdo family and you can guess from the title what happens to the kids who's car ran out fuel, but still a good read, not too long and the end was different and not what I expexted

Average but short read
It's a short story but I found it rather predictable and guessed what was coming up as I've seen the plot so many times in horror movies. Wasted a bit of time when I needed it. Rather dialogue heavy. Not particularly gory for me but then I like slasher films!

Gory.......
I love Matt's books and was really looking forward to the release of Consumed as Matt had announced that he was writing a gory book for the fans that wanted it. I love horror books and I loved this one but Matt was right when he warned people buying that it was not for the fainted hearted as at times I found myself cringing at the fates of some of the characters. I could literally feel their pain. The book goes at a nice pace. The first half of the book sets up the story and introduces us to the 6 main characters whose car breaks down while they are on a camping trip and who are offered a lift and a meal by a couple of helpful strangers. The second half of the book is pure horror as the friends find out that the strangers are not as nice as they appear to be.I loved this book and cannot recommend it enough.

Come meet the Family!
Excellent book reminiscent of some classic films. It was all paced very well with dialogue to the flow of events. And the intro gets you into the story and gets you gripped from the get go.

Consumed
No zombie takeover, no infection, just an good, old fashioned tale of cannibalism in the heart of the UK. Great read. Gripping from start to finish. Just wasn't long enough. If you are easily shocked then this isn't for you, but if you enjoy a gory read then this is right up your street

Short but good
Short but good read! Gory and sickening, still leaving you wanting more. I have a number of samples yet to read from this author and I don't think I am going to be disappointed :-)

Awesome and gruesome.
Matt Shaw is one of my favorite splatter punk authors. Everything he writes is top notch as far as I'm concerned. This little novella is no different.Mr. Shaw's ode to movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it reads like a horror flick. The first half of the book is an introduction to the characters, and we meet the victims and the villains. The second half is just pure bloody mayhem and fun.The story is bloody, gory, sexual, nasty, and funny. A great splatter punk book that covers all the bases for the fan of such works. I squirmed and laughed in equal parts. The main villain, Robert, is a hoot, and delivers some great one-liners. There is a point where one of the killers explains to the victims why they do what they do. It cracked me up, and made me laugh out loud.If you love tales of psychotic, cannibalistic, incestuous families, read this book!

Gore fest
I thought was well put together gory horror book. I have not read a book like this but these are a guilty pleasure when it comes to films perhaps as they are not designed to scare but more to horrifying. Which the author did a great job at. Not a book for the squeamish.

My very first ebook, and it was great.
Very entertaining ebook. It was the first one I read, and I guess it was just a sample, but it was a fun bit of story. Some parts are predictable, but if you're into shock/gore horror, you'll like it. It's not for the squeamish or faint of heart, but if you're unfazed by movies like Hostel, Kill Bill, or The Machine Girl, then this won't bother you one bit. I might add, I believe the author may be British, and so the characters use words such as "whilst", which I thought to be very old English, but I'm just a simple southern guy, what do I know? Download it, read it, enjoy it.

So-so
Like the description forewarned, this is more for the gruesome factor than the story. Even knowing that going in, I found the story bland, and the gruesomeness not very gruesome...and seemed to be added in just to gross out the reader, not to add to the story at all. I don't begrudge the book at all, though, it did clearly state that was the author's intention.

Matt Shaw is the Gore King
This story was great in all aspects of gore, weirdness, horror, and unknown. It did a little time to get moving (45%) though. Four young people go on a camping trip and they have car trouble. Typical right? Not this time! The family they meet are crazy and each person has a little bit of a different character flaw or something going on. The characters are all very strange and creepy. Ending provides possible set up for a sequel... which would be awesome!
