PlantronicsAudio 478 PC Folding USB Stereo Headset

The starting point and main criteria with these headphones has to be the quality of the sound. I have bought these for speech on teleconferences using my laptop, but definitely consider them good enough to listen to music at higher than Cd quality. They really have good reproduction and you can pick out the different instruments with remarkable clarity for a budget pair of phones like this.Other points: Quick and easy to get working, virtually plug and play (wait for Windows to find and load the driver). Lightweight, very comfortable. They fold to a small size and the earpieces rotate to fold flat and fit in the storage bag (supplied). The earpieces have a metal surface and look good quality, shiny things. The top switch integrates with Skype so you can accept a call without reaching out for the keyboard of your computer. I nearly went for the Sennheiser at similar price point but I am well pleased with these and would recommend them 100%.

I use Skype for my work a lot so need the best kit. As a Mac Air user I need a USB headset as there is no mic jack. I first bought a Logitech headset but it turned out to have sound problems with latest Lion OS, so had to write that one off. The Platronics is fully Skype compliant and works perfectly with the highest quality digital sound I have experienced on Skype.The button to stop or start a call is inactive on Mac and only works with Windows. This is minor but still annoying that it has not been solved by a driver update. So a Mac user is penalised, hence drop a star.Apart from this, an excellent portable, foldable headset that is fully Skype functional, works through a USB hub when at my desk, and sound quality is best I have experienced.

Purchased these as a replacement for my Dragon headset, as it was really poor quality and giving a lot of feedback and noise from the mic. However, to date I have had no problems with this headset. It works brilliantly with my Mac and is comfortable to wear. The mic gives no echo or feedback so I'm able to dictate with confidence now. My son loves the sound quality for music playback too, so the only problem I've had so far is getting them back off him. Would definitely recommend them for Mac users.We have tried them with our HP Windows Laptop, but the sound quality for online conversations wasn't great, a little quiet and muffled, but we aren't sure if the settings need to be adjusted on the machine itself. Nevertheless, music playback is ok,

Works well for sound but following drawbacks:1) can't download software to work pc so not all buttons work on r/c2) very difficult to use with glasses on3) a bit fragile without a hard case, I resorted to cumbersome tupperware

I bought the Plantronics Audio 478 USB on behalf of a friend who is just getting started with Linux Mint 17 and needs to keep in touch with a family member thousands of miles away.I was so pleased with my own Plantronics headset (Audio 625 USB) that I decided to go with another one of the company's products.I have not been disappointed. The sound quality and clarity are both excellent.The headset is lightweight and extremely comfortable.If you are a Linux user, the Plantronics Audio 478 headset works just fine.Simply ignore the 4 buttons on the supplied controller and control the sound internally using the Linux software.Right click on the Speaker icon on the bottom toolbar and select Sound Preferences.Use the slider to adjust the output volume as required.Also make sure you select Plantronics Audio 478 stereo as the sound device under the Hardware, Input and Output tabs, NOT the built-in analogue device.

Call quality excellent. Foldable so compact. However they just don't last. After a 8 months the foam is starting to split.

After looking extensively through Amazon for a new headset for my Skype needs, I decided to go ahead with this one. After a couple of months of use, I am thoroughly impressed with this device.Pros:- The audio is very clear, and there has been no problems so far.- The headphones sit comfortably across the ears so you can wear it for hours and not feel any pain after a long session of use.- The headset folds up, which lets you store it neatly when you've finished using it.- The buttons on the headset are also a nice feature when you want to mute your microphone in the middle of a call, or increase/decrease the volume.Cons:- When installing the driver for the buttons on the headset, I was completely clueless as to which driver to install. There is a small manual added in the package asking you to visit a web page so you can download the drivers for the headset. When you visit this web page, no indication is given on the web page or the small manual to which driver you need to install.

I have had these for some time and have generally been pleased - good sound quality, etc. However, recently tried plugging them into a hub and the sound quality was dreadful - particularly from the microphone to people I was talking to on Skype. Emailed Plantronics and this is what they said"I would recommend only connecting the headset directly to the pc for best performancewe can not guarantee optimal performance when connected to a hub powered or unpowered"This is not mentioned in any of the descriptive material. In my view, they are in breach of the Sale of Goods Act - the device appears not to conform fully to USB standards.Not happy

Sin duda los recomiendo son muy ligeros y comodos, el audio y microfono funcionan muy bien. Casi lo utilizo a diario y hasta ahora funcionan sin problemas, el producto viene con una pequeña bolsa para transportarla lo cual se agradece.Sin duda lo recomiendo, yo lo utilizo con la aplicacion Webex y todo muy bien. El producto llego bien empacado y en la fecha programada.

Very good headsets and very durable too. It was recommeded to me by someone and would recommend it to others too!

It's so great I bought two. Planning to buy another for the hell of it.I have several headsets and microphones. From a Gamecom 780 to standalone desktop table microphones along with Audio Technica headphones. But nothing beats the voice clarity, and the comfort of this headset. It literally IS noise-canceling. I had my family playing karaoke and movies in the background and the background sound of that was lowered to my friend, whom I was playing games with online, making my voice clear and hearable.The sound is enough for casual music listening. I'm no audiophile but owning several audio technicas and jvcs and kosses, this seems to be pretty damn good. As for how it feels like on your head? If you've ever owned koss portapros, just imagine that, but more lighter and not-so tight hugging.Overall the best con for me is the mic and price on this thing. it's like plantronic's best product right now.PROS:- Mic sounds amazing *- Lightweight, comfortable as hell- Plug and play, none of that bs driver unless you want to be able to end/answer calls with the button on the headset cord- Sounds great- Skype certified ( I believe this is when Plantronics hires skype to do testing on their product, and if it works well and is clear, it gets a skype certification )- It's so great that according to reviews some electronic stores are using this among employees to communicateCONS:- Seems very flimsy. I have been using it for a year though, and dropped it about 4x a week. Nothing has broke it. So it's pretty durable.- This is not related to this product, but this goes for 50 dollars at local stores for some reason, while its 25 online. Weird.- That's it. This is great.Hell i'm going to pick up another one later for back-ups.
