Hoya DF000075 Modern Multilayer Coated Lens - Black

Arrived VERY fast; ordered evening and arrived the next morning, well done amazon :-) This is the 'basic' end of the Hoya range. There are pages and pages of photographic reviews, and too be honest I would expect the far more expensive ones to perform better, however, as an excellent quality 'lens protector' and UV filter this one is very good. I have not noticed any light flare or lens aberration, so one would assume this is how well it mounts to the lens (the lens design) it works very well on my Sony Lenses without any issues. Much thinner than some alternatives, so the lens cap etc still fits. With the High Quality HOYA brand, it is easily worth just a few pounds more than any other cheaper filter rubbish. *TIP* be aware there are LOTS of fake ones out there; this one is genuine; sold, and fulfilled, by AMAZON direct so worth the assurance. I WOULD recommend this filter.

I like Hoya products, and have never found them to be anything but first class, this is no exception, protects the lens, and that is its main purpose for me, get this if you get a new lens, cause its cheaper to replace this than the £500+ for a new lens, all my lenses have a Hoya UV filter on them, would not go without!! Further to this using this permanently on my lens, it is a great protector and causes no problems in colour quality or sharpness, its big test will be the Australian Desert in a couple of weeks time, but not expecting anything other than the excellent protection it provides, I have also used it in conjunction with a Polarizer Filter and again no loss of quality etc. so again my recommendation is to buy, this works!

I've been buying Hoya filters for my lenses since 1999 and never been let down. I use the filters to protect my lens rather than filter out UV rays. Hoya's filter is excellent value compared with some of the other brands. I thought about spending twice as much on Gobe UV 43mm SCHOTT 16-Layer Multi-Resistant Coated Ultra Violet Filter , but decided against as the difference comes down to glass (German versus Japanese) and coatings (UV versus UV+hydrophobic and anti-scratch). In my experience, Japanese glass is as good as German and the extra coatings aren't that important my camera isn't weather-sealed so I don't use it in the rain anyway. The price of the Hoya means it's cheap enough to replace if I need to and I've yet to have a filter break or fail on me, so I don't expect to have to replace it anyway. The only criticism I have of the Hoya is that I wish they were all slim designs as standard. However, as this one is going on a standard prime lens, it's not going to cause vignetting as there's no wide angle.

Its Hoya, so its certain to be of excellent quality and it comes in a very smart storage case. I've used Hoya filters for many years, they are the best. Great thing about a UV filter is that if there is no UV it will do nothing - if there is UV it will reduce the blueness of the image. UV is always higher near the sea and at high altitudes, so this filter is essential for taking photographs on the beach, near lakes or in the mountains. It will reduce the blueness and make the colorimetry more natural. And, equally important, it provides cheap, permanent protection for your valuable lens. Just leave it screwed on at all times and your expensive lens will be protected from the damaging acid in fingerprints as well as scratches and dirt. For these reasons I have always kept a UV filter on every lens on all my cameras.

This well made and slim filter is always at home on my Nikkor 17-35mm f2.8 wideangle, pro zoom, unless I replace it with another Hoya - their polariser (pro digital - which I also review). Its slimness means that it doesn't intrude or vignette (darken) the corners of the frame, even at the widest setting - which on my full frame D700 is wide! It's had a couple of years hard, semi pro use and is still in A1 condition. It's easy to screw on in a hurry and to remove. I'm sure there are better filters out there, but at a much higher price and so my five stars are on the basis of overall value. Compared to the standard, non multicoated and thicker Hoya UV filter, for about the same price (currently) it is noticeably better. I review that one, too but use on a tele zoom. It's extra thickness would cause marked darkening in the corners on the zoom I use this thinner one on.

Good quality filter that I leave permanently on my camera long lens.

This arrived in a standard sturdy filter box, with Hoya branding, a reassuring name. I discovered HMC stands for Hoya multi coated, and this particular glass filter is designed to absorb the ultraviolet rays that can make outdoor photos hazy and indistinct. So it is a fine weather filter for colour or black and white. the main reason I bought it though was as a lens protector. The multi coating also reduces the appearance of lens flare and ghosting cause by reflections. Manufactured in the Philippines, it is not their most expensive range, but The Hoya name gives confidence, and I didn't begrudge the 7.50 that it cost me to buy this one over slightly cheaper makes. In stock in the uk, there is not a long wait to receive.

Great price for a good UV filter. As many people do buying a UV filter is often done for protection more than the UV properties but what we don't want is for that filter to interfere or degrade the results that our lens is capable of, (or as little as possible). I found to my astonishment that the Hoya seemed to be as good if not better than filters such as B&W. For those that may look at that review and wonder what the difference it between UV-0 and UV-C is, according to Hoya, the -C version replaces the -0 version. Exactly the same performance but the -C is slightly slimmer.

Uso el filtro para un 24-70 F2,8 y la calidad de imagen es muy buena. Lo pongo para proteger el objetivo y poder ir sin la tapa puesta todo el día. El marco es bastante delgado.Siempre uso los Hoya HMC ;porque tienen una relación calidad precio inmejorable, nada que envidiar a un B+W.

Introduction I bought this UV filter for my Nikon 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 and it is one of the best filters that I've ever used for this lens. Optics This filter doesn't affect the image quality at all, and does not distort/soften the image. There isn't really any ghosting or flares, except when I point it directly at the sun, which is for the most part, unavoidable. Conclusion For the price, and knowing Hoya's quality, I've couldn't have asked for more, besides, what else is a UV filter supposed to do? I'd recommend this filter to anyone who needs a 67mm UV filter, and skip the ones being sold on eBay for a solid, good quality one instead.
