Having tried the BM7, I would never recommend the BM5 model to anyone. The BM7 has better volume, better base, better connectivity (nfc, multiple bluetooth connections, analogue audio in broadcast to the entire group). The whole group technology is the same and still a bit buggy, but overall happy with the product. If you haven't already invested in some of these speakers and are looking for your first multi-room speakers I would recommend you have a look at Chromecast Audio too as a cheap solution. Review: 10 out of 10 - Connection and use could not be easier, sound reproduction is first class and the volume achievable without distortion more than satisfactory. I've not purchased a second or third unit as the volume and clarity is such that this one is perfectly capable of filling the ground floor with music, so I'm unable to comment on the benefits of linking several units. Should note that the smaller BM5 has audio in as well but doesn't stream. **Q: I dont want notifications/phone calls being broadcast out. If I set airplane mode, will that stop all notifications yet allow the device to work?** A: Hi this will not work with airplane mode on as that disables Bluetooth/wifi. It would however work if you use the privacy features of iOS or Android which would stop messages and notifications. **Q: Could i use 5 of these with an echo dot to add multiroom audio capability to that with a remote to control it?** A: We have 3....the main base unit, a smaller speaker & the rechargeable mains free waterproof speaker that we can have in our ensuite or take out into our garden. Then hey presto it's playing your music from your phone . It's good quality sound what you can adjust on the speaker. The only thing that's missing is the skipping songs, there's no way of doing it through the speakers.
