This isn't beginners it's a pre-beginner book!
The title says what it is, but I would say it's more like a pre-beginner book. I.E. "what is needle felting book?"It's not what I thought It'd be. Author writes well, but if you know needle felting is working wool, to turn it to a felt creature, person, nature item, with skill and creativity then I'm sorry to say this isn't the book you want to buy, I got it on offer and I would want to return it. If you have no idea at all what felting is and you want to know more this is perfect. There are better books available, to learn techniques and projects like wool buddies, as an example or another great book is: Needle Felting from Basics to Bears: With Step-By-Step Photos2 good things which were good, was the how to make flat objects/teacup/saucer and an armature (figure doll) which I've not seen much of in books.I would suggest if your aware of needles, wool and roughly how to felt, look at better "how to" books and pay around £10 for a paper or hard back book. Many are available as ebooks and as long as there's no templates (can't size right electronically) - go for it.However, the Author does an amazing job at describing the art and joy of needle felting, I'm sure they're proficient at it.

Basic techniques
As the title implies, this is a book for absolute beginners. I just started needle felting, beginning with a kit and then trying out some ideas of my own. I bought this book in the hopes that it would provide some good tips for improving technique and ways to troubleshoot issues (like, how do you cover up all those needle holes?). However, as other reviewers have mentioned, this book really does only cover a basic introduction to the materials needed, and how to needle felt. As this last part consists of simply repeatedly stabbing a needle into some wool, I don't think you need a whole book to explain that. As another reviewer mentioned, the quality of the works shown in the photographs also seems pretty poor - many items suffer from the same lumpiness and hairiness that I had hoped to correct in my own work. It is not very inspiring to work from pictures of not very well executed pieces, and most of the ideas were not anything I couldn't have thought up on my own (although the bird with wire armature was interesting).Overall, if you've never done needle felting before, and don't have access to video sites - which have a wealth of free videos showing how it's done - then I wouldn't bother with this book.

A book for the complete beginner.
Although I am not an experienced needle felter I thought this book did not cover needle-felted modelling enough. It was very basic and concentrated more on ‘flat’ felting and making card fronts. If you know a bit about the subject this will not enhance your knowledge much more. However the book is clear and concise and introduces and explains projects well.

Only for Absolute Beginners
This book does what the title says it is a beginner's guide nothing more. It explains the equipment needed and the very basic technique (ie stab the wool). If you want more advanced methods ie how to stop your designs looking hairy, what wools work best etc then look elsewhere.

Not the best
This book was very basic. I don't particularly like the techniques used - you don't need pipe cleaners to make a circle-shaped for heads.I wouldnt really recommend this book, even for beginners. There are better ones out there - try Christine Schaffer's books instead. Her techniques are much better and easier.

Great all round book
Really inspirational book. Full of good clear instructions for even the most timid beginner. Easy to produce results from this book. The techniques are clearly displayed in picture form. Well worth the money

like the little birds feet
A lovely collection of projects ranging in skill and techniques to keep a novice needle felter occupied for many, many hours. Just need to get a few extras for some of the projects, like the little birds feet, cotton covered pipe cleaners and maybe some carders at some point for blending the wools together.

Informative guide ...
Good beginner's guide, providing general info and instructions for several projects. With a little imagination these will give a good basis designing and creating projects of your own. Lots of techniques shown and I particularly like that there are step by step pictures to guide you through the stages of each project.Good value - would recommend.
