Marcelino Truong had done an excellent job as his generation had seen
I am 91. I had lived and experienced what's recorded in this book. Marcelino Truong had done an excellent job as his generation had seen, but without the feeling of an older generation watching and knowing that the so called 'free world" was no match vis a vis the motivated "international communist" determination to take over the globe. At least, the looser did give the winner a bloody nose. Good book. But a reader has to be involved with one side or the other to truly understand and appreciate it.

Excellent graphic novel
This book is an excellent young-adult's view of life as a Vietnamese refugee family starting over in England. Marcelino Truong's art and story are engaging and compelling. I enjoyed his books so much, I bought copies for friends.

A beautiful tribute to Vietnam!
After you finish reading this, you will want to hold the book. There are two parallel narratives, what happened in Vietnam and what the West thinks happened in Vietnam. The eye for detail is sharp... A must read for historians and all humanists.

Must- read
Excellent follow up to the first volume of Truong's diptych on the Vietnam War. After a few formative years in Saïgon at the dawn of war, young Marcelino becomes a teenager in Swinging London, torn between the Pop Explosion and the conflict that ravages his father's country. There's depth and perspective in this Bildungsroman based on such stuff our 60s dreams were made on. A must-read for anyone who enjoyed Such a Lovely Little War.

A fantastic and honest graphic memoir
The author skillfully told a story of his young self during the Vietnam War and how it affected his family.
