Nope.
How this gets good reviews I don’t know. I’ve only had it a couple of days and it’s riddled with design flaws. The good: Easy to fit although can’t speak for longevity of pulley and other fittings. Is not ugly but is advertised as both black and dark green. Mine was d. Green. Some of the bad: I’ll limit it to my top 3. 1) it has a ratchet locking system to stop it unspooling - fine - but in the event of a problem there’s no mechanism to allow it to stay on release. Have fun trying to hold the lever up, unwind the crank and keep tension on the line, it’s just awesome. 2) There’s a bar with a roller on laying just above the spool to aid the line. The roller is shorter than the width of the spool meaning quite often when you’re winding in it sticks in the gap and winds all of your line onto one end of the spool, really great days and just one of the many circumstances that mean you now face point 1).3) It’s advertised as 30m and it is. What they don’t tell you is using their supplied line you can fit >10m on the spool. That’s right. I have a tiny garden and it can’t hold the line to span it so I have a nice 2m flapping around as if to taunt me on behalf of my shoddy purchase.I think what really gets my goat is that this is not a particularly difficult thing to design and yet this appears to be designed to ruin your day assuming of course you intend to retract your line, if not, why would you be looking at a retractable washing line?! It’s kind of it’s USP.In short there must be a better solution out there because this most definitely is not it unless your garden is >10m on one dimension and you enjoy frustration.

Great buy
Brill item... not the best looking...but functional... and very cool.... wife loves it....there is part of the product which is needed to stop the handle rolling backwards.... it's not in the final product photo .. so don't throw it away... it fit on the teeth section with a screw and nut.

Works but don't use the line that comes with it
Bought this to replace an existing line and manual lift system. Winch appears solid but I am disappointed in the line that came with it. 30 metres of line I would expect to hold a decent weight in washing however after we put it up (our line is about 20 metres) the inner metal wire sliced through the plastic coating straight away. This has subsequently cut into the paint in the winch which allows water and will start to rust very soon.We will be replacing the line and repainting the winch

Poor, inferior product
I don’t usually write reviews but really felt I had to regarding this inferior product. The first time we used the line the crimped anchor at one end failed therefore all the washing ended up on the grass. After a further two uses the plastic coating on the line started to peel away from the wire at the point where it winds on the winch. On the fourth attempt the hook anchor in the wall that holds the pulley snapped, yet again the washing ended up on the grass. All of these can be seen in the picture. We have been fortunate that the weather has been good and the grass is dry otherwise all of the washing would have to be re-done.Now before anyone thinks that we have overloaded the line let me point out that we are a family of four, our twin girls are 1 so their clothes are small and don’t weigh much. Our garden is 15 metres long so again not excessive. So far the only good thing is the winch but it’s only been a week so watch this space. Now ordered a stronger washing line and fitted a more substantial anchor for the pulley, all at an extra cost. It’s such a shame because the idea behind the product is great but in my honest opinion they have not supplied the correct line or wall anchors are they are not strong enough for the job.

Very pleased with the function and look
Got this because I hate the look of rotary washing lines. This was easy to fit and looks great. I was a bit worried that the line wouldn't hold but I have had no issues putting a whole load of washing on, including bedding and towels etc. It is easy to wind and unwind, and I am going to probably try to put a second line on so that I can put more washing out at once. Hopefully it will take the weight.

Overall not bad for the price
Overall not bad for the price. The cable / line is very thin and you may want to use this to pull up a standard washing line. The coating on the wire is coming off where it winds on to the spool. Anchors are good and it does provide an easy tension system for the line.

The Line crimp tie is not strong enough.
There is a crimped clamp to secure a loop at one end of the washing line. Despite only using approx. half of the line the crimp failed leaving the washing on the lawn! This resulted in having to re-wash.The winder and other parts are fine and feel good quality.I fixed the issue by tying a loop on the line and throwing away the crimping clamp. This frustration has lead to a 2 start review when it would have been 4 or 5.

From the picture it didnt look very strong or amazing quality but was cheap but I thought I'd buy it anyway as it would suit my needs. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The picture doesnt do it justice. It's amazing quality and super strong and bigger than I expected. Super fast delivery too. I'm a very happy customer
