Dearer but has some extra features - it's not just name/looks.
Good product.Like all vacuum sealers (that I have seen anyway) it is very noisy - well they all are aren't they?It has both 'gentle' and 'moist' setting and a single release button once sealing has finished. The supplied cable is short but it is a plug-in cable and a standard design so replacing it with a longer one is very easy. There seems to be three main things that make this one different though and we like all of them;1 - The base is higher and this is a great help when sealing things that might not be quite solid as the stepped angle of the bag helps prevent the contents spilling out. If sometimes inconvenient, just put a book under the bag for height.2 - The suction holes have guides for the bag opening which helps divert any contents accidentally suck up form going directly into the holes.3 - If you interrupt the vacuum process by pressing the seal button the vacuum continues as the bag is sealed. Helpful if the contents are trying to expand as the sealing strip heats up, not so helpful if the contents reach the seal before it is finished. But overall a helpful feature.

and damp includes things like steak. Even if you press the seal-only button
4 not 5 stars, for three reasons:- Price: this is twice the price of the equivalent Andrew James sealer. I have both and performance-wise, they are indistinguishable, at least to me.- Seal-only button. It seems to make a frightful meal of just sealing things; and the vacuum pump chunters away the while- Moist food. It really doesn't deal with it at all well; and damp includes things like steak. Even if you press the seal-only button, it still seems to suck up a lot of liquid, and sometimes that prevents it sealing and wastes a bag. Yes, you can freeze everything first, but then it doesn't work so well in the bag...

Two faulty units in a row... and seriously underpowered
Two faulty units in one row... The first would not vacuum at all, the second does vacuum but does not seal. Needless to say I have not ordered a third, have gone for the Fully Automated FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer. From what I have seen, there would be two drawbacks to the SousVide Supreme even if I had had a working unit:1. You need to maintain the pressure on the lid all the way through the process. If you have a lot to vacuum pack this will both take time and prove a little tiring as you need to press down with both hands.2. The units I had seriously lacked power. The first one would hardly vacuum anything. The second did vacuum but slowly. It took about 2mn to suck the air out of a small bag with three thick slices of ham in it. Imagine having a whole set of items to freeze...PS: by contrast the FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer is absolutely WONDERFUL. Efficient, easy to use, and it comes with various containers that can be reused, which saves on bags. No contest whatsoever, although interestingly the Sous Vide Supreme bags are much better than the FoodSaver bags for sous vide cooking (I have reviewed them, and the foodsaver, if you want to know more).

I am a little disappointed with this
I am a little disappointed with this, as even when I set it to gentle and moist, it crushes anything even remotely soft. Even pitta bread, gets stuck together as it is crushed. Crumpets turn into pancakes and grated cheese turns back into a solid block. I intend to contact their customer support as I am sure it's not supposed to do this, but I have carefully followed all instructions and whether this is faulty or working as it should, it deserves noting. It is great for things like celery or vegetables, just not as versatile as they lead you to believe. Cream cakes would not stand a chance!!!

Thanks sous vide supreme. As a big fan an a avid customer I really appreciated that you guys replaced my vacuum sealer without an hustle after mine broke after some liquid got into the pump!

Not very good for the price.
Never removes all the air from the bag, I have tried countless bag types including the official SousVide Supreme ones. Not sure if its just a design flaw but the vacuum process begins and before a majority of the air is removed the sealing is activated and the bag sealed. The seal itself is perfect. I haven't tried the gentle sealing process as the results are likely to be even worse.

Fantastic I love It 👍
Love it.. Easy to use. I use it every day... Practical to save food and avoid waste. If I buy an entire leg of Parma ham I can not ontly slice it and save it in small portion to use when I need it or slice some and vacuum the rest again in smaller pieces. Fantastic size for storage space. And I have to say I'm impressed how well it vacum. I recommend it.
