Singer Sammy Hagar continued his streak of success with Van Halen on this album, which debuted at number 1 in 1991 and was the third Hagar performed on. Fighting against censorship with the "subtle" acronym title, this in-your-face album spawned hits and marks a must-have moment in the lifespan of a great rock band. Track List: 1. Poundcake 2. Judgement Day 3. Spanked 4. Runaround 5. Pleasure Dome 6. In 'n' Out 7. Man on a Mission 8. The Dream Is Over 9. Right Now 10. 316 11. Top of the World Review: Finally, they got this record pressed well. - This is a review of the record itself, not the music. Short answer: this sounds incredible. When the “Van Hagar” vinyl box set was released, there were a ton of complaints about the quality of the pressings, especially the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge one. Because of that, I never bothered to get it. When this one was announced, I was hopeful they’d get it right. I’m happy to say they nailed it. First, spreading it over three sides was the right call. Trying to cram this much music onto two sides rarely sounds good. The remaster itself sounds great. Lots of punch and dynamics. And Michael Anthony’s bass is a lot more prevalent than other versions I’ve heard. Vinyl is also flat and quiet. Honestly, I don’t need the extra CDs. But for the price I got this at, it was too good to wait for a vinyl only release. The box it all comes in is really well done too. It’s made well, with lots of photos and a cool insert booklet. So if you want this album on vinyl, with the extras, definitely grab this. Review: For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge collection - Van Halen's For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge collection is a perfect addition to my vinyl collection. This set includes the full album on 2 lps and 1 cd. There's a disc of live tracks and a bluray packed with music videos and a pro shot live performance in Dallas, Texas. The booklet includes photos and other goodies promoting the album and their Live Right Here, Right Now tour. This collection is really well done and a fantastic gift for any Van Halen fan.

A relunctant positive review from a DLR era fan
First of all, yes I'm one of those VH fans for whom VH was my favorite band during the DLR era and I just never could get into the Sammy Hagar stuff. It's not that I was nuts about Dave either. He wasn't why I was into the band. And it's not that I wasn't prepared to like Hagar. I just never thought the band gelled together after Roth left. But "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" made me reconsider. This is the first album with Hagar, in my opinion, that actually sounds like Van Halen. The others had a song here and there that sounded like Van Halen, and a lot of songs that sounded like Sammy Hagar solo material (with guitar and drums by Eddie and Alex). This album has a certain confidence and passion that was just lacking on 5150 and OU812. Hagar also forgot to write a cheesy pop ballad with the word "love" in the title for this album. I can't say I'm disappointed by that. All Van Hagar albums have a few radio friendly ballads, and the couple on this album, "Right Now" and "The Dream is Over" are way better. "Top of the World" isn't a ballad, but it's also poppy and also much better than the pop songs on the earlier Van Hagar albums. And they finally figured out how to rock! "Poundcake" may have stupid lyrics, but it's pretty cool. "Judgement Day" is even better. My only remaining comment is about the title of the album. I don't want to sound like a stuffed shirt, but come on. Did "Beavis and Butthead" suggest this title? I've always found it funny that Hagar writes these sappy love ballads and then also makes some of the most sexist and immature comments in other songs. I don't know if the title was his idea, but I'm guessing "yes." Not a bad album though. Check it out.

Great for VH Super Fan
As a huge VH fan, this is an awesome piece. Got if for just under $50 as well. They were around $100 when they first came out. You get 2 vinyl, cds and blueray. The picture book is great too. Had never seen many of those pictures. Great heavy packaging.

Da amante dell' era Hagar a discapito dell' era DL Rorh ho completato la mia "santa Trinità" insieme a 5150 e OU812. Per me la band con questi tre album ha raggiunto la maturità compositiva con arrangiamenti e produzioni al top.

5 stars for the music. Sounds great on cd! No stars for a big crack in the jewel case! CDs should be shipped in a box not a plastic envelope where damage will surely occur. I originally had this on cassette tape 34 years ago in 1991 . I liked it then , its only gotten better sounding over the years there is not a bad track on this album. When it came out that year I had little idea how popular music and rock would change with the debut of Nirvana's Nevermind (come to think of it nevermind is an appropriate title for that album!) towards the end of summer. Van Halen's album came out in the spring if I remember right, and Metallica's black album in August then Ozzy Osbourne's no more tears in September. If you want context for how music was going in hard rock and metal you needn't look further than those three examples. All of them classics! Then (if you must) listen to nevermind. Then you may likely conclude as I did that the day that music died was not in 1994 but when Eddie died. Long live real rock and metal! Sorry for the rant but I think it's important to have standards and to understand what happened to IMHO good music. Thanks for reading!
