Pentax 39892 O-RC1 Waterproof Remote Control, Black

Wanted a remote for ages for the camera and this was inexpensive and works really well. It literally too 5 minutes from opening the packaging to actually being able to use the item and it functions perfectly, not really used the zoom etc more the snap and shoot for selfies or when having camera on tripod for shots where you dont want any movement, for that it is ideal.

Does just what I bought it for. Nice bit of kit for "set up" tripod photos and selfies if that's your thing.

After having initial problems with it not taking pictures, I understand the problem better and have had it working from both the front and rear of my Pentax K5 IIs camera. I did read the manual and took advice from the internet. I checked the settings in "Drive" mode but it would not fire the camera to take pictures with the camera flash. Having said all the above I got it to work eventually through experimenting and working logically. The problem lies with settings in the camera. If the camera does "not agree" with the settings within, it will not take pictures using the remote, i.e., ISO, f-number/aperture and shutter speed. Please note that the RICOH website does not mention the compatibility of this item with the K5 series of cameras but the manual does recommend it. It works straight away and there are no Bluetooth or wireless-pairing issues to consider.The Pentax O-RC1 is a good remote, simple to use, there are no worries about water splashes and it provides the means to attach a lanyard should you wish to keep it close by. I would recommend it but check your camera settings are correct for the environment you are shooting in and you have the camera set to the wireless settings in "Drive" mode.

I found this to be a very valuable piece of kit to use with my camera, very convenient to use and much easier than the "plug in version" although the cheaper options are quite good, this being the manufactures own it,s obviously more compatible with Pentax cameras, great to use for long exposure shot,s

It didn’t work, it was sadly a dud. And Amazon still haven’t picked it up and returned my money 🤔

This remote is work excellent with Pentax K-70. Shutter and "Tree/Three Tree" button is work fine for take a photo. The Tree/Three Tree is use for re-focus it's works.

Does its job very well and can really fit anywhere so you always have it with you. Its small size makes it easy to misplace though. That's why I had to buy this one! Battery apparently not easily replaceable but my first unit worked for almost ten years so I figure I'll more likely misplace this one again before the battery dies. The Fn button doesn't do much on my K-5 and K-70. The "near tree/far trees" button will focus on my K-70 but not the K-5.
