it's a not very solid plastic moulding (at the price what do you expect) I found it better NOT to use a hammer just use a trowel
Take care when 'hammering' into your garden or you'll break it, it's a not very solid plastic moulding (at the price what do you expect) I found it better NOT to use a hammer just use a trowel, when put around the lawn / rose bed edge it looks very good, I'm highly delight and have ordered another three packs.

Cheap rubbish
Firstly they get no stars at all but in order to write this review you have to award them a star, so I have HAD to give them one star but they do not deserve any. I’m sending them back. They are made of the cheapest, flimsiest plastic imaginable. They’re described as “hammer in”. I used the softest rubber hammer and I’ve only put four in and two of them cracked and chipped immediately - they are wafer thin. They won’t go down as far as they need to do so that the soil won’t spill out of the bottom, the interlocking mechanism of each piece is so flimsy they don’t stay together and they look NOTHING like slate. They look like cheap plastic that comes from a pound shop. DO NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES buy this product. You will literally be wasting your hard earned money and at the end of it you will be forced to scrap them and go out and buy something else that was actually MADE to do the job.

Not bad but expensive.
The border looks quite nice when in. The only issue I found is knocking them into the ground. I tried several different tools but I ended up with chips out of the tops. You also have to be careful not to push too hard as the spike breaks, which is why I was knocking them in. Not bad but I think they are over priced for what they are, molded pieces of plastic.

Plastic Edgings
Look nice in the ground, flimsy and can break easily if you don't dig a hole first to tap the plastic spikes in, other than that just waiting to see how long they last after strimmer edging up against it. Very cheap looking, but for the cost that's what you'd expect.

Works a treat
I was a little sceptical about these because, well, they are plastic! However, they actually look really good. My ground is full of stones so I had to dig down first which took me some time but once in they are near perfect. I had to reduce the spikes on two of them as I was unable to remove some concrete in the ground. I did that by using a long metal kebab skewer which I heated on the gas stove and then laid on the plastic spike, which I had already measured for size, and just letting it melt through. Worked a treat.

Totally awful and misleading product
I bought for boxes of this stuff after seeing the pictures.Only in the more detailed description does it mention that they are made of plastic ( though they call it seething else entirely)If you search for Lakeland stone edging this comes up!! It is a thin and nasty looking plastic product and can only be used if flat against a wall so that you can't see the back which looks hideous .I have a garden which can be viewed from all angles so I now have four boxes of this gathering dust in my shed. They should put back views on their pictures and should never have been allowed to mislead with their captions. Most people who buy are in a hurry and often using phones to place orders and this seller takes advantage of that.On contacting them after I was told that I would have to return them at my own expense ( which would cost a fair amount and so a refund wouldn't be worthwhile.I found the customer service rude and unhelpful.Amazon handled it terribly and denied my claim without reason. So others are left to fall into this trap. I hope even this small review stops somebody from buying this product

Excellent
I love these edging cobbles. Although the instructions tell you to hammer them into place, I found the best was was to dig out a small trench and backfill it with soil. If the ground is hard I think they could snap quite easily if you do hammer them in. Once in place they look brilliant and give a fab look to a boarder. I would happily buy these again.
