A significant help for a nervous dog that had been showing aggression through fear.
I was doubtful whether this would work but my extremely nervous dog has been really helped by this collar when we were moving house, she had begun to show her fear by making random unprovoked attacks on other dogs whilst on walks, you can imagine how terrible this made taking her for a walk; making me anxious to take her to a public park but I had no choice, I consulted my vet and he suggested I try Adaptil but he wasn't sure if it would help but said it was worth a try. Within a few days of using the collar (which is easy to put on, although I didn't trust the fastener and taped the end in case it came undone) her behaviour was much more relaxed and less aggressive and continues to be so, although I wouldn't trust her off the lead completely with other dogs around, her behaviour is such that I probably could, I just can't be 100% so I'd rather not take the risk. I hoped that we wouldn't need more than one but after a month it became obvious as it started to wear off and she became more aggressive again, so we have bought another and she seems much more relaxed again so I suppose we shall just have to continue with them. It is not a cure all and weirdly it seems to make dogs become attracted to her and try and mount her, strange as it released the same hormone a pregnant dog exudes, but it has significantly helped her to cope with a new home and surroundings.

Great for nervous dog
I was really surprised how well this worked for my very nervous, sensitive dog. I bought it because she was not coping with the new puppy I had introduced to the home. My older dog hates loud noises and raised voices so she was very stressed whenever the puppy had to be told "NO", which was often! She shakes and paces and can't settle. Within a very short time of wearing the collar I noticed her reactions were less extreme and by the next day she had calmed down considerably. This is not a magic cure for unwanted behaviour, only correct training can help many dog behaviour problems but it certainly does have a calming effect, which was exactly what my dog needed to get her over the initial early stages of having a new, very challenging puppy in the household. It also helped with her nervousness in the car which was an added bonus. She used to try to hide in the car and would get very stressed on longer journeys, shaking looking very frightened. With the collar she just settles down and sleeps. The only drawback is it only lasts for about 4 weeks and would be expensive to have to buy one every month, but I would definitely recommend it for nervous dogs.

BEWARE - my dog had massive allergic reaction :(
Was using this on my healthy, young (2.5 years) black lab. I followed the fitting instructions completely, after one week had to take the collar off - it had made a difference to his behaviour around fireworks - but he had crispy bits around the collar. When I took it off, he had a very large bald spot on the back of his neck. It was about an inch eide by 3-4 inches long. Bathed him to get any residual product off him, and thought that would be the end but I woke up the following day and he has sticky patches on his fur, so thought i had missed a bit when cleaning so bathed him again. He started getting quite quiet, so took him to the vets today and he has had to have his whole neck shaved, he has sores and blisters the entire way around his neck, has a raging fever and his open sores are infected :( he is now on antibiotics, hibiscrub and fuciderm for at least a week and cannot be walked as he cannot put a collar on his neck. Very distressing for me to see, and for the dog to go through.

Haven’t had time to fully test, but good start.
My 7 year old springer is very anxious and is nervous about a lot of things, especially when walking somewhere new. Very very expensive product for every 30 days, but gave it a go, is vet recommended. After 2 weeks I think it has worked, but due to covid, haven’t been anywhere that new. He does seem a little more relaxed and less nervy, but yet to really put it to the test. The cost would put me off, as I cannot afford that every month, perhaps the manufacturer may take heed of this and reduce, drastically.

Reactive/anxious GSD
We bought this because our boy started struggling eith being home alone for too long. He was also scarred of new environments, walks become unenjoyable, reactive to things he was ok weeks earlier. Bear in mind he is not neutered yet so some of this behaviour was put down to it. I did buy and didn't think too much. He was still his hyper self, however barking stopped. He no longer was reacting to people just walking past the house. Initially I didn't realise that this worked. We have been 2 weeks without colour and the anxious behaviour has returned. Safe to say I bought another one. This will not make your dog docile, if this is what you are looking for. This will, however, make them feel less anxious. I do think if your dog's anxiety is severe, you should go to vet instead of buying this.

Amazing effect on my 8 year old lab
I tried this as a last resort having tried all sorts of other calmers, training and habituation techniques for separation anxiety, stress and barking. He is an 8 year old lab and was finding life more and more stressful. We have another 2 year old dog, but if I leave them even to go to the loo and my husband is there, the older dog was getting distressed. He got to the stage of barking at any slight noise or movement and would also go for another dog if it told him off. The dogs come to work with me and he was starting to scare some of the other people in the office with his barking. The collar arrived this morning and I put it on him. He sniffed the air and promptly fell asleep. Various people have come and gone, walking in and out of my office all day. he raised his eyebrows at them as they came past and then shut his eyes again. He gives the impression of finally being able to relax and the difference in him is astounding - lots of people have commented on how chilled he is. I am amazed and keep checking him when someone walks past as I can't believe how relaxed he is. I ordered the diffuser as well and that should arrive in the next day or so. I am hoping that the collar and the diffuser together will allow my husband and I to leave the house together so that we can go next door for a drink on Saturday. We have resorted to going out separately and haven't left the dogs alone for about two years! I will update this review after Saturday - fingers crossed!!!!

Disappointing
Our dog is a bit of an erratic beast. At home, she is loving and friendly. She adores our friends, family and other dogs. Unfortunately, she's quite unpredictable outside the home. Sometimes she cries when people approach her, sometimes she barks and snarls. We'd had some success calming her down with the Adaptil spray, so we thought the collar might be a nice portable solution. The collar itself is not exactly high tech - it's flexible plastic with a slid through fastening system which has seemed fairly secure so far. I assume the plastic in infused with the Adaptil pheromones. You cannot attach anything to it because there are no hoops, so the dog still needs to wear its usual collar. In terms of size, our dog (A beagle) would probably have been better with the small size, because the large size is a good eight inches too long really. A few weeks into using this, I can safely say it's made no difference at all. She's as unpredictable as ever, wary of strangers and if anything, even more jumpy around cyclists. The only reason I've not taken it off her yet is that I cannot bear to throw away something which cost more than her normal leather collar. I'm giving it two stars because it's a good idea, but it's made no difference to my dog's temperament whatsoever.

calm down dog
really really helpful i had already tried the adaptil diffuser but had no luck as my deerhound Karn is always out and about with me so it only really had an effect on him when he was in a specific area of the house.i heard about these adaptil collars so i went onto amazon to have a look picked up one for an incredible price. i will admit i won't be paying the pets at home price £37 this has started to work already when it was put around his neck. i can now can go out with out him constantly having to be my side at work. he now will rest in his dog crate rather than digging holes in the walls and doors in attempt to escape to come and find me.This has been extremely helpful for his anxiety levels Karn only really gets on with my other dog Duke who is a doberman. i will have to look at getting Duke a collar as he seems rather interested in the smell of the collar (pheromones) and sticks by karns side a lot of the time. This will have to be a long term use for my deerhound as there are other issues that are anxiety related including people and loud noises. He is already a lot calmer around the house even when our neighbour starts his sports car up it dosnt seem to bother karn as much as it did before.I am really happy with this collar its such a good idea and really works i would highly recommend for those doggies that are social anxiety related or sensitive to loud noises.

Sehr zufrieden!
