Very Helpful
For all the books that may be out there on God's word and on the church, I know of none that explain the connection between them so well as this one, particularly in light of the state of modern evangelicalism. Jonathan Leeman sets forth clearly the crucial relationship between God's word and God's church and why church leaders should trust Scripture, and Scripture *alone*, as sufficient and capable for doing God's work in the church. There is much keen insight in this book and more than a few places that make you realize that the author clearly understands this subject in ways that are overlooked by most church leaders today.I am looking forward to using this book for new disciples and for those beginning to develop a biblical philosophy of church ministry. I am very happy to recommend it.

A heplful, excellent, important, and humble book
This is simply an excellent and profoundly helpful book. And I am not using the word "excellent" flippantly. I am not widely read, but I do not recall coming across a book similar to this which sets out to demonstrate just how the doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture plays out in the life of a church. Leeman sets out to do just that, and he does it very well.I would respectfully disagree with the reviewer who gives it 3 stars, saying that Leeman's polemical tone is too harsh. If I recall correctly, Leeman does not name a specific church or group of churches when he critiques how they sometimes use or misuse the Scriptures. This does not mean he sets up a straw man just to knock it down again, rather it allows him to carefully counteract patterns that I personally have observed in a number of different settings. Thus his critique is accurate, not just a careless iron fist. Nor would I agree with the same reviewer that Leeman's tone is harsh. I'll grant that it is strong, but I also sense a humility in it as well.In short: read this book! Read it with a newer Christian. Buy 10 copies and hand it out to friends at church.

good Bible study
Covered what should be obvious to us Christians, but not always put into practice. Leadership of the Church should read this. Good, not earth shaking, but good.

Good Author
I thought it was well written, relivant and accurate. That being said I found no new revelation, though it is a good reminder for all Christ followers.
