Good value but not perfect
This is a small unit but does the job pretty well. Only a couple of niggles. First the battery compartment is underneath the pedal and needs a bit of fiddling to fit. The pedal hinges have to be pushed in and the pedal sprung off to reveal the compartment. A fiidly job to do and needing something thin and strong to compress the hinges. Not a deal breaker but inconvenient.Secondly the effect is rather 'harsh'. I guess it is emulating older types of effect unit but it is very difficult to get a 'realistic' sound. I intend to try it with a microphone but using my guitar for a short test was a little disappointing. Perhaps my inexperience was a problem and more experimenting will produce better results.Build quality does seem extremely good and it should survive plenty of abuse I would think.

Echo o o o o o o o
This is a fantastic pedal from the German company. I bought one before this one, it did not break but I passed it on to someone else. I needed to get another delay pedal so trawled the net in search of another, not necessarily this one though. However after hours of reviews and videos I decided to get another Vintage VD400 such was my experience with my first one. Now we have an orange light instead of the bright blue one, much better. Apart from that the pedal seems better made than the last in particular the feel of the dials. The sounds from this ridiculously priced pedal are astounding at this price point, great echo, real warm delays and fabulous oscillation, nice and spacey does it.Anyone thinking this is a toy and is to cheap to be believed is mistaken. I have taken the last pedal to many raucous gigs, it has sat on my pedal table, yes table, fell of the table, been thrown around in boxes, bags and vans and still works to this day, I am sure this one will do the same.Reliable? Mine 100%. Would I play the O2 with it? Why not. In my opinion this is the best echo/delay pedal out there for the money and even more money. Don't believe me? Read and watch the reviews, then buy one before they decide to phase it out.

Bargain pedal that sounds great
Arrived within 24hrs from Amazon and it was packaged well, I’d bought a little 9V adapter to go with it as the reviews on changing the battery were not great.Got this up and running in less than 30 seconds and I paid a little over £21.00 and to be honest it sounds great. I play a Mustang, Tele and a Duo Sonic with a mixture of single coils and humbuckers, have had no interference when playing and the pedal is certainly sturdy enough for everyday usage. Sound quality is absolutely spot on and the sound out of my Blackstar HT5 is lovely, the amount of control and adjustment works really well, the knobs are tactile and firm, no issues at all wit build quality and it looks great too.I don’t gig so this is just for the house and it’s perfect for that, a bargain for the price and if you’re looking an affordable way into creating some lovely sounds then you can’t go wrong with this.

A great echo pedal at an amazing price.
I bought the pedal as it was the lowest costing one I could find mainly as an experiment before committing to a more expensive unit. I just wanted to try out the feature for a particular tune. I can honestly say I was astonished at how good and solid the unit is. It’s a bit tricky putting a battery in position as the design is rather fundamental but not impossible. Ready to go I connected the pedal to a THD head and 1960A speaker. Result=Great sound. Next a Marshall 2555 head and the 1960A Marshall cab. Result = Excellent and finally through a PA desk into a pair of Carlsboro cabs and got another good result. There are so many possibilities with this little unit and I highly recommend it as a basic and solid little pedal.

VD400 Vintage Delay design fault?
This device has two outputs but if you connect anything at all to the DIRECT OUT it affects the echo in a weird way. The first note you play is muted.I have not been able to find any support for Behringer pedals so I don’t know if I have a faulty pedal or they are all like this.

Crap product, crap company
I thought at this low price I couldn't really go wrong. But I was mistaken.I had the VD400 for about four months, but it was barely used in that time. I have several other echoes and this was just an extra - fortunately. In that time it had maybe fifteen minutes of use at most. Then I tried it and it wouldn't power on. The battery was fine, but I tried another one just to be sure. Then I tried a mains adapter. It revived for a few seconds and then went dead again.I contacted Behringer, who were less than helpful, and vague about the warranty terms. I went back to their website and spoke to an independent dealer they listed for the UK, who kindly told me what Behringer should have told me, that I have the usual twelve month warranty. In the meantime Behringer emailed me to say they were closing the case. I emailed them back to reopen it, and sent them proof that I'd bought the item from Amazon, but they weren't interested in proof from Amazon's website and would only take the printed invoice enclosed with the item when it was originally delivered. Even then I'd have to pay postage if they repaired it. It wasn't worth the hassle and I don't believe in throwing good money after bad, especially when the item isn't anything special in the first place. So the useless thing went in the bin. This is the last time I buy anything Behringer.
